Not-so-shockingly, Harvard caved to demands made by moonbat students. The left has gone so far over the edge at universities it is hard to fathom.

Privilege — a catchall term for the perks an individual enjoys in society because of his race, gender, or class — has been used to analyze social inequality for decades. It’s also enjoying something of a moment, thanks to social-justice bloggers and their critics, like Princeton freshman Tal Fortgang. In a viral article for the conservative Princeton Tory, Fortgang wrote that calls to “check his privilege” — that is, to consider how his good fortune might impair his ability to empathize with others in any given debate — “threaten to strike down opinions without regard for their merits” and “solely on the basis of the person that voiced them.” Being told to check his privilege is not overt reverse racism, Fortgang admitted, but it “toes the line.”

It saddens me a bit to actually come full circle on this stuff as I come from a long lineage of academics. But, the time for the "Institutions of Higher learning" to be absolutely and completely fumigated is upon us.
We have become waaaay too fat, dumb and happy with charging students outrageous sums of cash while providing them with essentially dogschit curriculum. This nonsense, "gender" studies, Star Trek unveiled, Getting dressed (offered at Princeton), Finding yourself, Ancient Chinese poetry classes or whatever else.

I'm no fan of the strict Math, science, technology type path either, I think many many people benefit greatly from a well rounded exposure to a variety of courses and the liberal (little l) arts education.

But it's no longer about that. It's about social engineering, radical leftists calling the shots and the indoctrination of as many generations of people in this claptrap before we finally wise up.

We're "educating" an entire segment of our population with stuff that "teaches" them nothing. And we wonder, moan and complain about how schitty the economic and jobs outlook appears going forward.

I wouldn't hire me either if my head was full of this garbage.

ALLEN D. AND MARION L. RUBIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This is a minority scholarship that is available to students who adhere to or practice the Jewish faith. This Harvard minority scholarship was established in 1981 and falls under the restricted category of scholarships. Any Jewish students who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, aspirations for the future, and exceptional academic prowess are eligible for this Harvard scholarship for minority Jewish students. WILLIAM JONES FUNDS
This Harvard University minority scholarship is focused on helping Native American students who wish to attend Harvard. This scholarship is worth full tuition for one year for one Harvard student. This fund honors William Jones and William Stoughton, who was a Harvard graduate and former lieutenant governor of Massachusetts. Stoughton was a very rich man and upon his death in 1701, devoted much of his fortune for endowment at Harvard. AYALA SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This minority scholarship from Harvard University is intended to provide full tuition for a few students who are planning on attending Harvard and are of Philippine descent. This scholarship fund was established in 1996 and has been helping deserving students since that time. First preference is given to students of Philippine heritage, while second preference is given to other Asian nationals. Preference is also given to students of any race who choose to study Asian history or languages and major in this subject.

Smn..I would make sure I review some of those scholarships.

I had a high-school counselor who pointed me to a couple of scholarships when I was getting out of high school (and admittedly this was 25 years ago), even though they were minority aimed,anyone was eligible for.. (admittedly, they were small ones (like a couple of hundred of dollars at most). People would get scared off of them, simply because the emphasis was toward a certain race/religion.

I hope there is also a required class on "objectifying women: females as semen receptacles". After all, it's the Kennedy school.

Wow! Harvard DUMBED DOWN!!! The depth of white guilt cannot be under estimated.

It's funny how telling someone to 'check their privilege' because they're perceived to hold sheltered opinions of the 'real world' is a prejudiced statement in of itself.

If I were a parent helping pay for a Harvard degree, I would be furious this BS course is MANDATORY. The white guilt carried by the radical left is EXTREME.

When I was at Harvard Business School (admittedly it was a long time ago in the 1970s) there was a joke about the Charles River being a literal geographical boundary and a metaphorical ideological boundary. (In case you were not aware, HBS is in Boston, not Cambridge.)

I suspect that still is the sentiment, as there are no courses that even approach that type of PC content.

Hey there is at least some value in Ancient Chinese Poetry

My issue is not so much with the number of classes but with the number of *degrees* and *departments*. I'm sure many AA studies classes actually could fit quite nicely in a history degree.

I agree. I happened to take Ancient Asian Cultures because its (1) what fit into my history gen ed and (2) something that was rather interesting. I took Roman literature for the same reason.... They rounded out my Engineering classes.
