They only have 10k fans or whatever and are not in a position to schedule home and home series and have no leverage. They need the 4 sure home games. They can schedule a D1aa at home and they really only need to work on 1 other home and home series.

It could be but scheduling for an indy is near impossible now, especially one that stinks. Until they build a legit OCS and provide better campus access, UMass FBall will never be sustainable. It's a shame as I still think it could work and add significant branding value to a school that should be so much better than it is....

AAC making huge mistake. AAC needs UMass to devolpe into solid program
I don't see why UMass is not taken on as an affiliate member for FB & allsports in BB
Their BB would help AAC, FB could play Conn, BosColl & Army in Foxoboro.
give 1/13 of TV FB money [Networks would adjust payment]
bowl access & FB sch

Not to mention that an independent UMass would not have a TV deal and would not have a bowl tie-in.

Why does the AAC need UMass to develop? I hope you realize we aren't running a charity here.

We don't really. That said, anything that improves the overall football culture and college football fanbase in New England is helpful.

The American needs to focus on a few current members and get them to a sustainable point to keep pace with the P5 rules and costs... it doesn't need to take on a complete joke of a program like UMASS. UMASS doesn't have a facility worthy of FBS, let alone one of the top six conferences. They have zero fan interest for tv, they have few fans at their games played 90 minutes from campus and when games happen on campus they don't even have permanent public restrooms within the stadium. Not exactly a quality football add - they would lower everyone's SOS. It would be just a totally brutal move on the AAC's part to even think about UMASS before they're established and drawing 30k fans, which might never happen!

If it's not a boost to the TV money - as any combo of Army, Boise State, BYU, and San Diego State would add - then don't even consider it!

Yeah, also, if UMass football flourishes in the Sun Belt, they would still be available for the AAC down the road.

I edit to state Idaho is in the PST.

http://www.timetemperature.com/tzid/moscow.shtml.

Moscow, ID is on the border with WA which is in the blue part of the PST divide.

EDIT: OH...got your little joke.

OT I know it's way old, but did anyone see the Washington Post blog on Sarah Palin and Glenn Rice? I just happened to see that a few weeks ago. 07-coffee3

State has no talent.

Second-tier school in a small state.

Zero history of success in football, ever.

No market.

Poor academics/school profile

Campus is in the middle of nowhere -- if you're going to add them, UTEP actually makes more sense, which... shudder.

no this is not a charity case.
if you haven't noticed, landscape of college FB changes every couple yrs.
name another school in eastern half of US that has the potential to bring a TV market of 7 million.
bring down SOS, have you looked at your sch. did u miss the AAC-MEAC/SWAC challenge
and AAC playing with 11, that,s brilliant No CCG. 1yr kick start would help

But you don't understand, they have no potential until they offer some solution to their FBall situation, none. Until then, they are going no where. They break ground on a 35k expandable OCS, then we can talk. Until then why can't people just stop. They currently play about 2 hrs from campus and have an OCS WITH NO BATHROOMS!!!!!!

Yup. There is a lot to work on before an invite is considered. Luckily I think they can really build up their football program/facilities as a result of playing in a predominantly Southern football conference, where football is king. It's gonna take some time though.
