RE: Marching Band
Was very impressed with the Buc band back in 2002, believe this is the same director, if so, that's good.

Sent this year's $250 kickoff fund pledge in last week. Let's get this thing rolling! Go Bucs!

RE: Marching Band
Congratulations on the re-establishment of your marching band, the band certainly makes college football more enjoyable. I hope you have one up and ready by your first game. UNCC (or Charlotte, as they like to be called), opened their first season with just a drum corps. I think they will have a full band next season.

If you're interested, I'll be glad to post a link to let you see what the WCU band has been up to since you left the conference. The Pride of the Mountains has grown to over 400 members.

RE: Marching Band
I had the pleasure of seeing your band perform at parents day. They were fantastic.

Very impressive The Cats! I am so glad we are finally headed in that direction. I was wondering if there are many people in the WCU community that really do not want the football team and marching band?

I don't think anyone does not want a marching band, but many of the football purest in the past felt money was funneled into the marching band program, to the detriment of the football program. The marching band does a great job, IMO, of supporting the football program, but there has been some ill winds from some football fans toward the band.

As you probably know, the WCU football team has seen some hard times, actually the WCU football team took the Citadel's place in the cellar of the SoCon when the Keydets departed for the Big South. During that same time, the marching band made big strides, winning many awards and even the Sudler Trophy in 2009.

With the success of the band overshadowing the football program, there has been some bad feelings. Nothing however, that a winning football team won't resolve quickly.

Congratulations to both programs for staying the course and hanging tough. I think we are now headed in the right direction also.

RE: Marching Band
Western's football has unfortunately been bad for some time. They have only won 5 games in a season, twice in the last ten years. Don't see how the band caused the poor results.
