Yeah, I'm an Aasics man, myself.I was agreeing with Brooks Owl.

I now notice I misspelled it, which is probably what led to the confusion. 03-lol

Well you say that but it isn't that obvious to some people. You got all these clowns running around in the Vibrams wondering why their knees and ankles are killing them when their motion is that of a bloated duck. Getting special shoes only masks your errors and allows you to continue further entrenching yourself until those start to fail you too. FIX YOUR DAMN MOTION.

A long damn time! lol 03-banghead I'll just leave it at I'd like to get it down to about 35-40 minutes at some point before the end of the year.

I just started doing this in April. I'm not much of a runner so I'm mostly jogging and then walking when I feel like I'm about to die. I'm currently doing my own version of the Couch to 5k program where I'll run for x number of minutes and then walk until I can breathe normally again and then run again.

At the event I ran on Sunday a 15 year old finished in 22 minutes. 04-jawdrop

My next event is the Color Fun Fest 5k Night Run on May 31 down at Turner Field. I'm excited about that one.

In defense of Vibrams, there's a small pamphlet with the shoes that tell you that you must train yourself to run in these. Don't heel strike, do this, etc.

My knees actually feel better and my ankles don't bother me since switching to Vibrams.

I had been training in them for a year before running my first race in them. A guy at that race began telling me all the problems he had wearing them. I told him I'd been wearing them for a year, he said, OH I bought them and the first time I wore them is when I ran a race.

Very impressive Smaug. I hope to see sub-30 at some point. Primary goal right now is to just get faster every time and hopefully be able to jog the whole distance at some point.

Thank you.

Yeah, the key is to progress at a sustainable pace, and don't hurt yourself. If you can knock a little off every time, you're doing good.

But remember, not all 5Ks are created equal. I ran in one this morning, as well (I'm still questioning the wisdom of that decision).

The one last night was brutal. A real roller coaster. The one this morning was flat as an ironing board.

I'm just getting started. I'll be doing Color in Motion and The Glo Run the next two Saturdays, and in June I will do The Color Run, Neon Vibe (rescheduled from April) and Waterfront Obstacle Challenge. I walked Color Me Rad in April. Hopefully by late June I will be able to run the majority of a 5K. The Waterfront will be my first Obstacle Race, so hopefully I can at least finish it while completing all of the obstacles.

I'm looking forward to finding a flat 5k to run for sure.

I think my time on my last would've been better had it not been so damn hot. Race didn't start til 2pm and it was almost 90 out.

My next race is a night race so that should help.

I've been lucky so far one event was on a trail so no cars and the other event that was on main roads was very diligently watched by police officers.

The most dangerous place to ambulate is any parking lot. The roads are far safer by comparison.

Hey Smaug - do you find using resistance on an elliptical or an incline while on a treadmill helps you prepare better for a 5k?

My next race is next weekend and looks to be fairly flat with at least one giant hill if I remember the course correctly.

I haven't used an elliptical in a while, but I've got a little bit of an incline on my treadmill and I think it helps.

I can never match my outdoor speed on the treadmill.

Good luck, and tell me how you did.
