I think he does realize. He mentions brown and gold and the black and gold.
I think he's right on the money with all his points here.
I completely agree with the BR article...
Boat rowing and horses have nothing in common. (A for effort Coach, but geez...)
Boat oars as stickers for the helmets are ok -- it's a team thing so if it gets them motivated, that's fine for me...
But I'd like my Alma Mater to dial back the football uniforms...
There's certainly a happy medium of tasteful modern and strong traditional that can work just fine on the field.
And by the way, I'm getting a little tired of black across all Western athletics.
A sharp combination of black Brown and Gold is fine... but let's stop ignoring Brown shall we? Last I checked, Brown was 50 percent of our school colors.
When Sparty comes to Waldo next year and all those fans scream their traditional "Go Green, Go White" what are we going to scream in response? "Go Random Color, Go Gold"?
Let's make it easy... just change the words to our Alma Mater and be done with it...
And a one and a two... (to be sung to the tune of the WMU Alma Mater...)
"Western we sing to you, same colors as Purdue and Wake Forest and Vanderbilt, and Central Florida and Colorado and Iowa and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and St. Olaf College"
"Western we bring to you faith untold -- with the exemption of brown as we have no faith in that color because some folks say it can't be marketed to young adults."
"You challenge and inspire, but only if everyone is wearing black"
"Your hope is our desire, well not really because the color brown scares people away even though Wyoming and Valpo do just fine"
"We sing to you our Alma Mater (insert color here) and Gold!!!"
