RE: A Boost for Men’s Basketball
Pardon my ignorance, but is there any significance to the term "lead gift" other than it's a large enough sum of money that it gives confidence to others that the project will happen? I'm wondering if a donation to a specific project has to be a certain size to qualify as a "lead gift" which then has implications for capital budgeting in that funds can be "earmarked" for said project only after the "lead gift" has been received.

At UAB to have a building (or partial) named after you - a lower of donation of 50%(very flexible) or a million dollars are needed. In general in fundraising the lead gift means simply largest/significant.
I am very glad to see an emphasis FINALLY being placed back on basketball which is the sport that we could excel in.
