I ask everyone who supports the ACA if they have ever been to a VA hospital and witness the level of care rendered at such facilities. I think many are under the impressions that with gov't intervention these places will turn into Walter Reed or Bethesda.

My Dad has been waiting 11 months for hearing aides. The VA told him their backlog was 6 months.

Its funny... I said that to a veteran here in Dayton that is in favor of the ACA. His response was that for basic care, he's always gotten great service from the VA. He said if the ACA gave him the same quality of care he has gotten from the VA he'd be happy.

In general state provided healthcare is just fine as long as you don't get sick. Then you are hosed.

The VA is a freaking joke. My husband is an OIF vet and any time he tried to utilize those benefits he was on a 6 month wait for a "sick-visit". Best thing to happen to him medically was to get a full time job with good benefits so he doesn't have to use the VA.

Sadly though he'll probably never get help for a likely TBI. His convoy was blown up multiple times and injured his neck and head but was NEVER questioned or screened for a TBI. TBIs didn't become a big deal until the current administration so those vets in the early stages of the conflict who got out never got the treatment they needed or deserved and now the VA can't/won't see them for it.

And like all these other stories coming out his father died in a waiting room of a VA back in 1992.

I signed up for a dental insurance plan through BC/BS and although that has nothing to do with Obamacare, I still haven't gotten my card because they've been having issues getting them. Don't know if or where it ties into this, but it's crazy nonetheless.
