ULM signs NC State Senior QB Transfer Pete Thomas
6'6" 236 pound senior QB us immediately eligible to play for the Warhawks once he graduates from NC State in May. Definitely fills our biggest hole. Was a 4 star #16 QB in the country coming out of high school.

RE: ULM signs NC State Senior QB Transfer Pete Thomas
Reminds me of a current Seattle NFL QB who transferred from NC State as a senior or graduate and did OK, except he is a lot taller.

Would love for it to work out the same! We are excited. Should be much more durable than Kolton as well. No knock against Kolton, but staying healthy was his weakness. Now if he has half Kolton's heart we'll be in business.

ULM is his third college? Unless I read that wrong or it's a mistake. If so it begs the question, What's wrong with this guy?

I agree, lots of red flags. Regardless, gotta be better than what they currently have so might as well take a one year flyer on him. Definitely not thread worthy by any means...

The addition of a probable starting QB to a Sun Belt team isn't thread worthy, but all this realignment garbage is? I remember when we used to actually discuss Sun Belt sports on this message board.

The guy started as a freshman at Colorado St. And started his sophmore year and put up great numbers. Then transfers to NC St. Starts 27 college games overall and was the starter heading into spring and a Florida QB transfers in and is named starter. I think this guy is graduating with a 4.0 from NC St. Big risk and not thread worthy? Give me a break and get back to discussing whether we may add EKU, Liberty, or UMass. Geez.

You are correct that he is expected to be our starter. Berry is ecstatic over this signing and he should be, especially with our other choices at QB. He's about twice the size as Brown.

I never said he was a big risk. It is odd for someone to bounce around 1-A colleges like that. Are players not still forced to sit out a year unless they play 1-AA? Why the transfer to NC St.?

Looks like there was a coaching change at Colorado St. and he was close to the former coach and coming off an injury. Who knows what will happen, but again I think by far our best option and should fill our biggest hole and give us a chance to be good.

Excellent point. Rarely do I remember another teams QB. Those are some big shoes to fill. I will remember Kolton Browning. What is he up to these days? Possible future coach?

He instantly upgrades a weakness on our 2014 team and he has to be better than our other options currently. ULM returns a veteran team next year with what looks to be a very strong defense, so if the kid can play fairly well we could possibly have a very successful season.

Future coach is definitely a possibility but not yet. He's preparing for an NFL camp whether he gets drafted or not. There's a couple of teams very interested in him and want to give him a shot. He's excited just for the opportunity and has been working his butt off the last couple of months. If it doesn't work out then he's good with that and you'll see him on a sideline somewhere coaching the game.

The biggest issue in transfers like this is simply getting them ready to run the offense despite not having Spring practice. That was ASU's biggest issue with Kennedy...getting him familiar with the personnel and playbook quick enough.

And team chemistry is a concern. QB has to have the confidence of the offense but now days everyone stays over the summer to work and that is a huge plus in being able to show them what you can do and earn their confidence.

15-20 years ago it would be a much bigger deal.

That's definitely true. At least he is a very smart kid, so hopefully he can pick it up fast.
