Special teams was one of the few bright spots of McGee's tenure.

The botched field goal in OT is a very small part of why we lost to Troy.

That happened to better teams than us. 03-lol

I think that belongs to Ty Long. Now you can extend the point and say Long should have been told that even though he has the ability to audible to an onside kick, it should never be done under "X" conditions (to include being up 2 scores). In any case I don't think that particular incident reflects on Special Teams in general.

Bad snap on overtime field goal, bad snap on punt that almost didn't get kicked, or one of Ty's rare misses from inside 50 that seemed to be a good hold? I had forgotten about the onsides kick. The kicking game had it's nadir last year the one game we almost put a complete game together. Even the return game was incredible.

I think we were breaking in a brand new long snapper.

And our kick was from 59 yards. Theirs was shorter. And ours was a "what the hell, just try it, it's not like it will win or lose the game" call, whereas theirs absolutely did lose the game. I don't lose sleep over our kick six.

I'm just happy that there is a bright spot on this team.

I'm also glad to see the coaches talking positive about the team and what is going on, not about the way we go about our business.
