I'm pretty sure Live was the spring of 95 (definitely the 94-95 school year).

My first real concert was at JMU when I was still a senior in high school. Toad the Wet Sprocket at Godwin in the spring of 93. Talk about a band that had a short shelf life, never to be heard from again.

Not sure about the short shelf life thing. Their heyday was the early '90s for sure, but Toad has put out six studio albums, in addition to some compilations and live albums. They've been together about 20 years total, though they did take a break for several years.

I believe last year Toad the Wet Sprocket played the small stage at Hamiltons restaurant in DC.

BTW, saw Old Crow Medicine Show last year at the fair and it was awesome...cheap tickets, you should definitely check them out live.

lol, i have a friend that made out with Jarrod Neimann when he did a concert in charleston... she never lives it down.

In SC, I get told.. "this is real music right here! Not that stuff you have up in VA" whenever they refer to Old Crow... Well, the eat crow when I remind them the 2 that started the band are from VA...

Daughtery is also performing at the Rockingham County Fair. Not huge, but better than thr usual country acts.

What a cruel joke... They are almost as bad as Nickelback... Almost.

Everyone always rips on Nickelback, but I don't mind the stuff that they have put out.

Then people from SC are not very educated on where that music actually comes from. Bluegrass is more a VA/WV/TN/KY thing and less of a deep south thing.

That plus anytime someone says Darius Rucker wrote Wagon Wheel I want to give them a good slap to the face.

What is a Goo Goo Doll? Is that the newest crazy fair food (like deep fried butter) or something you win by popping a balloon with a dart?

I see Darius Rucker frequently as he lives on the same street as I. I'll be sure to give him the message!

They need to survey attendees so they can put out a statement that they need to do some more monitoring of music as it is the devils music to most in the administration and they prefer to ban dancing on campus

Don't tell me that old prude Stanton is still an administrator at JMU. I thought that jerk would be dead by now.

Who do you think wrote it? Because it wasn't old crow...

Bob Dylan inspired the tune and the lyrics from a bootleg. You can YouTube it. And yes they credit him for it.

Speaking of Toad the Wet Sprocket, they're playing at Wolf Trap this summer with Counting Crows.

Celebrate Fairfax is bringing All-American Rejects and Cheap Trick this year.

But seriously, what's up with the ticket prices for those shows at Rockingham? That's like what you'd pay for those acts in their heyday!

Yep.

Having known about OCMS since the days of them playing at the Little Grill when I visited my older sister at JMU, I am very familiar with the background of the song. While inspired by Bob Dylan (chorus and melody which they credit Dylan for like HolyCityDuke said), the lyrics are theirs and they made the song their own...unlike Darius Rucker...
