However, we should all try to start with a clean slate. Nurturing grudges doesn't help us. We need a new day and a new attitude toward the local media. Especially with this new coach. He has the credentials statewide and already has relationships built with the football types that matter in-state. He will likely automatically get better treatment in the media than say an A'hole like the stache.

We also need to participate in the dialog as fans. The fact that we don't call confirms the belief of the ignorant that nobody cares or that we don't exist. If we called more, stimulated intelligent discussion, set the record straight when they are wrong, provided information on our young men and why they are worthy of viewing, then we start a good snowball rolling and pretty soon we are taken more seriously (of course winning is still paramount).

The fans are the customers. Not the other way around. Perhaps the company wanting our business should start with a clean slate.

That said, I don't think they need our business and taking potshots at UAB is appealing to their customers. When a UAB fan calls in, it just gives them fodder. Why participate in that.

One producer told me as we were discussing it a while back that they did not need our few fans and their ratings were fine.

Folks on here can list insult after insult from the JOX employees alone.

Name a competitor. Of course their ratings are fine.

They don't need us? So I guess they're just okay with being fine and not trying to grow their market share for the benefit of their sponsors or their employees. Sounds like an okay plan to be good enough to stay on the air, or thereabouts.

I listen to WAPI in the mornings & WAPI in the afternoon swapping over to WYDE at 4 pm or so.
When I am in the car at lunch, I would be listening to Rush Limbaugh.

Yeah, with fans like that first caller diagramming your every shortcoming, who needs a mother-in-law ?

That yahoo has been calling since Clark was hired with the same skit. I wish once during one of wjerks UAB call in times, they would let a real fan talk to this *******.

It is very hard to call in on a show when you know the people you will talk with don't know even the UAB starters and therefor can't really discuss anything UAB sports. I believe that is the main reason for the jokes and such. They have no knowledge base on which to make informed conversation.

Dog days for football writers, journalists, personalities, whatever else they call themselves. No actual football is happening, so let's just transcribe some idiot caller from that station Finebaum used to be on.

Not a lot of sports talk in that list. JOX isn't competing with news talk, at least not directly. I think all the other sports stations tanked. AM 690 is still limping along playing national Fox Sports Radio content, but no one really cares, and that's WJOX2 or 3 anyway.

I think they transcribed it wrong. I could have sworn the guy said Clark's job at Prattville, not Jacksonville, was better than UAB. I thought he would get dumped after that line.
