I'm still hearing that UMass doesn't have the support at this point.

If I were a betting man, I would bet Liberty 12th and NMSU all sports.

If I were a betting man, I would bet the SBC stays at 11 and watches the ACC's CCG proposal intently.

Don't get off topic though. Votes aren't there for now.

Link? Source? I've heard some info that says otherwise. But I don't trust any of it on either side right now as it's all speculation. We shall see in late May.

If there was a link, and assuming LU is not in, the LU posters would probably not be here. Why ask for a link when you know there isn't one. We know you want LU in the SBC, but until something definitive happens, people are going to share info that they may get 63rd-hand...it happens. It's entirely possible that LU does not have the votes. Only time will tell, but the one thing I'm sure of is that you're not going to get a link.

The only thing that we message board poster know for a fact is that No one has the number of votes to join the Sun Belt at this time. We will only know someone has the number of votes when the word is given.

People (people that do the voting) talk and as of 4/23/14 they do NOT have the votes. I don't have the vote count, but it isn't currently enough. You can hope and wish all you want but something is going to have to change in the next 3 weeks if Liberty wants in.

I would think a nice financial package could help sway a few votes. Liberty didn't build a $21,000,000 baseball stadium, upgraded their football stadium and are looking to build a new civic center for basketball to remain in the Big South.

This is not a thread about Liberty. It is about EKU.

Actually, I didn't say it...Saint did. I have no inside information at all, and Saint is capable of discussing how he gets his info. I just tend to laugh when people ask for links from anonymous message board posters, because 9/10 times there won't be a link--it's a message board.

Don't know AppMan or his sources, but he has stuck with this scenario through several rounds of gossip and speculation ever since UMass's MAC exit became public.

FWIW, one of, if not THE top "insider wingnut" on our GS board has mentioned the same scenario several times in the same timeframe.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Georgia Southern AD Tom Kleinlein was scheaduled to be at the Coaches Caravan Tour last night in Swainsboro GA.

http://gseagles.com/news/2014/4/2/BSB_0402140722.aspx

Can any Eagle fan comfirm that TK was at this meeting in Swainsboro last night.

You are correct. TK was in Swainsboro last night. He'll be in Springfield tomorrow night and will be in Savannah Friday night.

It could be that the AD's are having a conference call and one or more AD's just happen to be out this way. Like it's already been mentioned, the Presidents will be making the final decision anyway.

And I still believe that AppManDG is correct with his prediction of what will come out of this.

EKU should make a great addition when they upgrade their facilities, but that does seem to be a top priority for them at the present.

You can't ask a school to spend millions on upgrades without them knowing they have a home. You have to look at their plans and where they're at with those and make a decision on if as a conference you believe they will get those done.

Did GaSo upgrade first or had plans to upgrade and started after being invited?

Agreed. The only caveat is that there are a lot of moving pieces with at the moment which could change plans that were agreed upon even a day ago. Things are certainly fluid at this time.

That's the point you had plans in place but not the upgrades. EKU has plans and some funding in place for upgrades. But not many schools can afford to spend 15 to 30 million to upgrade without having a home to move to before doing it.

So if the SBC is going to wait for a FCS school to get their football stadium and basketball arena upgraded to the SBC standards before inviting them...

it's going to be a long wait because not many schools can afford to do it first.
