What can Aresco do to oppose the P5's formal delegitimiztion of the AAC?
We are all gnashing our teeth about the NCAA's propsed new governing structure. On many essential matters the AAC will be subject to the whims of the other 27 conferences while the Power 5 need only an internal vote.

I have yet to here what Aresco's options are. If this passes it is a formal and permanent determination that the AAC is a minor league conference.

Is a lawsuit a possibility? Political intervention? Lobby other NCAA conferences (potentially causing p5 split???)

What would you do if you were Aresco?

Keep in mind the document being floated is a draft. The meeting this week is to introduce the document and seek additional input. I think that with a few minor tweaks, it can be improved to the point that its at least a situation the G5 can live with. Basically, we need a few tweaks adjusting what is an "actionable" area of autonomy and a "permissive" area of autonomy. If we can get it to the point that all "actionable" areas of autonomy are areas in which the P5 is limiting themselves in some way, then I don't care if it takes approval from the rest of D1 to enact those items for everyone else. We need to get the document set up so that any autonomy items that give the P5 an advantage should ALWAYS be "permissive" items and items limiting the P5 are "actionable" items.

Who drafted the draft? Did the AAC have input? Did Aresco sign off on this actionable permissible stuff? Has he given any public comments? Does he plan on?

This is as important as the tv deal. Maybe more so.

This was from September, 2013. Since then we have heard very very little about attempts by the AAC to avoid being placed in a patently second tier division.

Jeremy Fowler ‏@JFowlerCBS
Faculty Reps sent proposal to NCAA on governance: FBS as one subdivision w/ own board of directors (at least one prez/chancellor per conf)

Jeremy Fowler ‏@JFowlerCBS
FARs also proposing an FBS Management Council composed of one AD and one Fac Rep per conf, along with possibly Sr. Womens Admins, Commishes

Jeremy Fowler ‏@JFowlerCBS
Votes for board of directors could be weighted for 5 power conferences and "perhaps the AAC" as succession to former BCS-qualifier Big East[/u]

Doesn't the big east have a commissioner? Why don't you troll back over to your board and ask your commish to draft something up and you all can discuss the crap out if it on your board.
