Love Sean Keeley's comment to Clemson Fans
Quote:Sean Keeley, Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician: In terms of football, you're going to enjoy meeting most of the fanbases.

Weirdly, Florida State fans are some of the best, mostly because they take pity on us rather than rub it in our faces. Clemson fans, however, are a different story. They tend to take matters way too seriously and take every tiny affront as a declaration of war. I'd say try not to piss them off, but you don't really have a choice. They'll find a way to get pissed off regardless.

I have a few more bits of wisdom for Card Fans

1. Pitt and Cuse got your backs, Notre Dame is still Notre Dame. Welcome back to club.
2. There is a Big East clique...embrace it and be proud of your roots. Can't speak for your old Metro bros how they'll accept you. Apparently VTech's got some lasting 4 hour+ erections over you guys.
3. Sean Keeley is right...but you guys being northern Southerners will get more free passes from the Clemson Crazies and the Triangle Boys for speaking your mind and offereing differing opinions than heathen Northeastern based schools.
4. The Football is a better atmosphere (better stadiums/better fan bases/more tradition/better weather) wise and the top end talent of FSU has to be seen in person. Outside of FSU the rest of the ACC seems on par with the Big East over the last 4-5 years. Big East Basketball was more intense but you guys joining the club of ACC BB elites will be a nice consolation prize.
5. MSG>Greensboro/Charlotte/Atlanta You understand and we'll give each other the knowing head nod when in Carolina or Georgia
6. TV exposure is much better on ESPN/ABC but the Raycom games will be harder to see at times for out of town guys.
7. The Raycom analysts will mispronouce and make up new names for most of your players. It will be comical and frustrating. It will feel like an away game broadcast (even for home games) since most of these guys are from the Carolinas.
8. Finally I challenge every UL fan to make at least one road trip to an ACC venue.
9. You'll love the ACC...it is our new home and 90% of the ACC fanbase is glad we are here.

So with the schedule out...Louisville fans which home games have you the most excited? You planning any away road trips?

BTW, the link here has some awesome random comments discussing everything related to the ACC. I love it...in the Big East this type of thread never existed. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football...ville-2014

As a long time FSU fan, I look forward to playing Louisville....I think it will be a better and more competitive game than freaking Maryland

You would be amazed at how many Louisville residents have lived in Florida at one time or another. And vice versa. I currently know several Louisvillians living in Florida and have Kids in FSU, UF or recent Graduates of There. I say the 2 Florida schools are very high on the list. Virginia Tech and Syracuse and Pittsburgh as well as Clemson and UNC will also be premium ticket grabs. BC had a following during the Schnellenberger era and caused a fan uproar while Our Band was on the field at Halftime. Seems the BC field goal team decided that was the best time to practice Field Goals at both ends of the field. Needless to say the Boo Birds were out in full force. GT and Louisville had some decent Basketball matchups during the Bobby Cremins Era.
I'm trying to workout a schedule with the Wife and try to go on the road for at least 1 game this year. Both Florida schools are here. Wife's from Upstate N.Y. and might try the Syracuse game if We can work it out. October vacations are very popular with employees of where We each work.

RE: ACC Guide To Louisville Fandom
the comment about clemson fans is interesting. i had always heard that they were generally very gracious. i remember going to the first BC game in death valley in 2005 (when they had a backup qb by the name of matt ryan) and we went out of our way to be hospitable. i remember several packs of BC fans walking by tailgates and people offering them bottles of water (it was a very hot september afternoon).

every school has a faction of inbred fans. the gamecocks just happened to get a significantly larger faction 07-coffee3

RE: ACC Guide To Louisville Fandom
I will rank our conference opponents in order of excitement

Football:
1. Miami (This would be FSU but it's the first game of the season, first game Bobby's back, first ACC game...lots riding on it)
2. FSU (Last time you guys played at PJCS I tore down the goal posts)
3. Notre Dame (self explanatory)
4. Syracuse (Reuniting with old friends)
5. Clemson (Power house but nothing really beyond that)
6. Wake Forrest (Orange Bowl rematch)
7. Virginia (I guess they're supposed to be our rival or something)
8. NC State (Because BC has to be last, right?)
9. Boston College (see above)

Basketball
1. Syracuse (I hope the ACC sees the err of their ways and makes us permanent rivals)
2. UNC (I'm a big Jordan fan, your school color is my favorite color, you might be my 2nd favorite team period)
3. Duke (Coach K vs Coach Pitino on the reg? I must be dreaming!)
4. Notre Dame (How many OTs are you guys ready for this year?)
5. Pitt (Old conference foes and tough as hell to beat)

Honestly, after that they're all about the same for me in hoops.

krux,
Speaking as a BC alum, all I can say is 'ouch'. Hope we can give you something to hate us about after this season!

RE: ACC Guide To Louisville Fandom
In general, you'll find that the ACC feels a lot more like a community than did the Big East. The ACC does a substantially better job a taking care of the little things that make it feel as such. If you pay attention to details, it is very noticeable IMO. Thus it feels much more like a first rate operations, and that includes the events it puts on surrounding ACC Tournament so definitely check out in Greensboro if you have the chance to get to the ACCT (although it can't compare to the overall spectacle of MSG).

I think you'll also find the refereeing during basketball seems to be of a poorer overall quality than what we had in the Big East. I didn't think there is any real bias, the badness cuts both ways, but the consistency of calls was maddening at times, and lower profile contests with the lower echelon refereeing crews were just flat out awful at times.

I'd say that football road trips are significantly better than in the Big East.

Your fan base and athletic department is going to fit in great. I currently live near UMD and I can definitely tell you that the ACC upgraded from the perspective of athletics and fan base.

You left the Big East before we got there, to my knowledge we haven't played you guys in either sport recently...nothing personal, just no reason for me to get excited really. Kinda feel the same way about Virginia but since they're gonna be our "rival" I'm interested in seeing how they operate.

We don't play you guys this year. If we did, you'd be top 3. Gotta make you guys pay for the Vick stomp!

If you like watching the Cards against Pitt in bb, you are gonna love Bennett's UVa team.

And don't sleep on either FSU or Miami in terms of basketball.

Cheers,
