ESPN is reporting that Frank Haith is leaving Missouri to take the Tulsa job. This will save them from firing him next year.
Looks like a step down to me, but he gets to make the choice instead of getting canned.

Leaving town ahead of the posse. I've had times in my adult life I wish I'd done that.

There have been some strange moves by coaches this off season, more than I remember in one year.

Marquette to Virginia Tech
Missouri to Tulsa
Tennessee to Cal

Frank haith may have the better job. Tulsa going into aac. Better basketball right now. Smu, uconn, Memphis, cincy, UCF will get there, houston-just a matter of time. Watch. All the sec truly has is UK and UF.

VA tech is a step down.

Cal is a step up.

You are going to see these type moves more and more. With so many schools now paying coaches big salaries, the coaches are willing to put up with less crap from bad fan expectations to conflicts with AD's. They may leave better jobs for better situations and still get paid well.

PETERSON LEFT Marquette because he hated his boss.
Cuonzo left UT because of unrealistic fans.
Haith had a mess at Missoui with a player getting arrested twice in one day, to many other off court issues. He is a guy who knows when the posse is arriving. He did it at Miami and now at Missouri.

If Tulsa wanted to hire a guy that couldn't follow the success of Mike Anderson, Mike Davis would have been cheaper.

Cuonzo was burned by UT and I don’t blame him for leaving. Many high profile boosters notified the AD that Cuonzo and his staff would no longer be able to have access to their jets for recruiting, and there was even a petition to get him fired. UT never embraced the guy so I don’t blame him for leaving them at all.
