Tulane is basically coachless and spiraling.

ODU & ECU will meet in a non-conference game at ECU today. Won't effect conference standings, each looking to boost RPI. We have the same records, but ODU has a Top-10 SOS.

ODU also has a big non-conference game with UVa at Harbor Park, Norfolk, Tuesday 4/29. Any CUSA fans living in the Tidewater area come out have a beer & dog and support a conference mate.

The Monarchs beat the Pirates 5-3. ODU's rpi back to 27 again. They have a series at MT then the game against UVA looming large on 4/29.

Don't count on RPI doing you any good... Been there, done that.

I hear you. I'm just hoping a good high rpi combined with a deep tourney run can garner ODU an at large. It might not, but I can't see CUSA being only a one bid league.

Unless you win the conference tourney, it usually has little influence on the Selection Committee. However, if you can keep your RPI in the Top 35 - 40, with a winning conference record and winning record against the Top 100, you'll likely get the invite. Very strange year for the conference-- certainly much better than last year as a whole, with 7 teams ranked in the Top 100, and only a couple teams dragging the conference down. However, only one team in the Top 25, and only two in the Top 50. It's also not helping that given it's record, RPI and SoS, Rice is flying remarkably under the radar on a national level this year. Fortunately, it looks like both Zech Lemond and SS Leon Byrd should be returning after our 10-day Finals break (beginning after the USM series this weekend), and the break should also give Catcher John Clay Reeves and 3B Shane Hoelscher an opportunity to rest their injuries, and return somewhat healthy (as they've both been playing in pain the past 3 - 4 weeks).

Baseball America is now projecting Rice and Old Dominion to the NCAA field of 64. ODU's rpi is currently at 25 and they have a 17-13 record against top 100 teams with only one remaining on the schedule (UVA on 4/29 in Norfolk.)
