I am a mere spectator, but please refrain from using Mizz(threw up in m'mouth a little) St. when referring to Missouri State. MO state, MO St., MSU... Hell call us whatever you'd like... But we try very hard to not to be associated with the Dark Lord of Missouri.

We're going to need a SBC team name guide after expansion is through. Mo State doesn't like it when you call them Mizzou St. Georgia Southern is GS, Georgia State is GSU. Texas St is TXST not TSU. Arkansas St is ASU, App State is AppSt. Then there's the whole Louisiana debate...

RE: Reports out of missouri saying JMU and MSU recieved invite
Things can definitely turn around quick. JMU hasn't been great at football forever. Really, their success is pretty recent. I remember going to games there a little more than a decade ago with the stadium half full, and it was much smaller. Now look at them. Too good for the Sun Belt, acting like they've been winning forever 03-wink

Seriously though, the football turn around there and Richmond has been pretty remarkable.

Edit: Second thought, both programs have seen diminishing results on the field over the past couple of years after a few years have huge success. They've both done more than Liberty though.

No more Reference Guides! The last one caused meltdowns on several boards...including this one.

Imagine if Tar Heels had a nickname that was just for their school, would you want that associated with Appalachian State?

Mizzou is a nickname for the school in Columbia, it comes from Missouri U. Its not a nickname for the entire state.

I figured it was because most Missouri fans would have a hard time spelling Missouri correctly.

There is an old saying, if Missouri gave the bootheel to Arkansas - it would make Missouri 10% smarter and Arkansas 10% smarter. 05-stirthepot

People get too touchy over this stuff. I know many fans at App that will jump you one side and down for the Appalayshun pronunciation. I don't really give a crap what name or letters or nicknames are used. Eh.....to each their own.

Eh, ask me when I'm sober and I don't care so much. Ask me on October 25th, when we beat the Panthers by four TDs in the Georgia Dome and I've had a few beers in me, and we're the real GSU all day.

All of these work for the schools I haven't been hated when referencing any school using these, though often I call Louisiana; UL, Cajuns, or Ragin Cajuns

App-uh-lay-shun is Yankee talk!

Lol I couldn't care less myself, but while I'm North Carolina born, I also have lived in St. Charles Missouri, and Franklin Tennessee, as well my dad is a Yankee born out of Syracuse New York and my mom is a non-southern southerner being born out of Orlando Florida and any time I started sounding southern they were both quick to stop it calling it improper03-razz
