I was surprised how much of it came back to me pretty quickly, lots of characters and plots to recall. Only thing I couldn't really remember was what was going on with Sansa Stark and Lord Baelish. Is Baelish the Hand of the King?
Here is a recap of season 4 in 10 minutes. It's actually pretty entertaining, but you gotta really pay attention.
I also enjoy reading Alan Sepinwall's recaps after each episode, but I'm not aware of one giant recap for the start of the season. He did a preview for this season after viewing the first 4 episodes (which apparently have been leaked, but I haven't seen yet) without any spoils. So you could check that out too.

I'm glad it's back, what a great show.
At this point, Baelish is the Lord Protector of the Vale, after the whole throwing Lysa through the Moon Door and Robin Arryn being an inept child.
My nephew read the books and he said this will be the last season that goes along with the books. Apparently the books introduce an entire new cast and entire new storylines. For those who have read the books and comment on this, please no spoilers.

I haven't read the books, but I'm pretty sure some storylines are already diverging.

It says in the article above that the storylines will still be roughly the same, despite the increaese in changes we will see.

Like I said, I haven't read the books so I really don't know. But I do read a thread in the Game of Thrones subreddit every week that is written by a book reader. It's purpose isn't to spoil the show but to fill in details on things we have already seen that the tv show might not have enough time to go in depth on.
And the guy that writes it is already commenting here and there about differences. For instance, I believe Jamie does not go south to rescue his daughter in the books (he goes north for some reason I can't remember). Either way, I don't think the changes have been so significant to this point that they are altering much of the story, but from what I understand they are already appearing.

Hmm only one way to know for sure. I read the first book and was amazed by how accurate the show managed to be in the first season. It seemed like every line in the show was straight from the book. But its hard to find time to read full length fantasy novels so it might be awhile before I can find the differences for myself.
according to CNN twitter went crazy this sunday and a lot of people claim they will quit watching because of the last scene of this episode with Sansa Stark.
Did these same people not watch season 1 with Kal Drago doing the same thing? did they miss the dicks being cut off and sent back to families? or the incest?
Spoilers: This is a quote from George RR Martin that I think was pretty spot on:
Quote:"Rape and sexual violence have been a part of every war ever fought, from the ancient Sumerians to our present day... To omit them from a narrative centered on war and power would have been fundamentally false and dishonest, and would have undermined one of the themes of the books: that the true horrors of human history derive not from orcs and Dark Lords, but from ourselves."
It was a pretty horrifying scene. Before it happened I kept hoping Stannis and his men were going to get there in time, but that didn't happen. I still feel like Sansa is developing into someone who can overcome the awfulness of the world she is in, instead of just sitting back powerless while horrible things happen to her. Hopefully that scene didn't break her.

Sansa was never with the Boltoms, it was a fake Arya. They left and went captured by the Baratheon Army (supposedly) something that was said in the Pink Letter than Ramsey (supposedly) sent to Jon Snow which made him rally the wildlings and Nights Watch to march on Winterfell, which in turn was what caused the Watch to mutiny.
