We don't have a national championship in any ncaa team sport. We have national champions regularly in individual events.

The case was for a football national championship trophy. In the event we had won the national championship I'm sure a better case would have been purchased anyway. It was meant to show we are playing for more than bowl eligibility. The UVA fans like to poke fun at it because they can't even win their division.

They grew tired of carrying the expense of having it dusted every year for 15 years when they couldn't find a damn thing to put in it.
