RE: Champlin: Jeremiah Briscoe making a push to become UAB's starting quarterback
So it turns out that Briscoe was not entirely a victim of overzealous training or practice as some had speculated. The article makes it sound like an injury that happened gradually and was going to have to be fixed at some point anyway. But McGee's awesome S&C juggernaut might have pushed it to the breaking point a little quicker than it should have.

In other news, Pat Thomas is no longer being mentioned with the rest of our ever-expanding stable of quarterbacks. Did I miss something?

Thomas is just now getting back to being able to walk without crutches.

I think they are waiting for the long term prognosis.

So it really was a medical issue and not some weird eligibility thing or legal trouble.

Yeah, he tore up his leg, would not have been able to participate in summer practice, so he is either going to greyshirt with us or greyshirt with someone else and enroll after the fall semester.

If he continues to improve as he has, it will only make Briscoe darling.

Maybe they gave him a t-shirt with his quarterback rating from the spring game last year as motivation.

Briscoe has always been "the guy" to replace Austin Brown since last year's spring game.

Now that he is getting some coaching, I predict he WILL complete a pass in this years spring game! Seriously, I am glad he is doing better.........maybe he'll give Clements some real competition.
