We only have 4 guys with size for next year. Looking at teams in the NCAA and even who we played this year, we were undersized ( with respect to numbers of bigs ) compared to many teams that had success in 2013. I say get some more guys with height and bulk

We need a big.

Either get a "big" or improve our shooting, particularly from 3 point land. Getting a lot of offensive rebounds because we missed a lot of shots is no way to improve our record.

I saw the team with Gustys at the Baron's game Friday. He looks like a linebacker.

According to the other thread, Rideau is leaving.

If we could get both Smith (graduate transfer) and Gustys, that would be a major coup, IMO. We would address both of our remaining needs.

I wish nothing but the best for Riddeau. It just didn't work out here for him.

I would love to pick up both Smith and Gustys. I assume Smith will play point, but I don't know who will start between he and Watts. Either way, I think both will get plenty of minutes and we will have the capable backup PG that we need. I want Gustys so that we will have another big in the rotation. I bet we play all five bigs next year.

I would be very excited about this team:
Smith/Watts/Norton
Frazier/Calhoun
Brown/Madison/Sullivan
Washington/Lee/Cokley
Mehinti/Gustys

Smith seems like more of a combo guard/shooting guard, much like Frazier.

He shot lights out from 3, 2 pt range, and at the line, plus he has size at 6'4. I think he could start at SG or back up both positions. If we wanted to go really small he could potentially play minutes at the 3.

A line up next year of Frazier, Smith, Brown, CJ, and either Lee or Mehinti has me pitching a tent.

Anyone have insight on our chances on Smith?

Gustys is visiting Tulane this weekend.

Interesting. Besides going to school in New Orleans, which would be pretty damn fun, why would anyone want to play basketball for Tulane?

Might as well visit them, and see why or how they pulled off a W at Bartow arena.

How much will ESPN show Tulane... Everyone knows ESPN wants UCONN, Cincy, and Memphis, but how much will that translate to appearances by the rest of the league?

That doesnt matter. I know it sounds crazy, but it doesnt. A coach in the AAC can tell a recruit "ESPN shows X number of ACC games a year. Know how many CUSA games they show?"
The damage is done.

I understand that, but Tulane is a crappy basketball program. You may get on TV a few more times than at UAB, but your team has a significant chance of sucking badly. Unless I was getting Duke-esque television coverage, which you wouldn't if your team was as crappy as Tulane's, I'd rather play in relative anonymity at a school with a good bball team like UAB.
