That is crazy. After Aaron Hernandez, I'm not sure how much of a chance teams are going to want to take on him. It's certainly tough to see him getting a ton of guaranteed money.

RE: NBR: Eagles release WR DeSean Jackson
Probably get a 1 or 2 yr deal rather than the long-term deal he wanted. If things change during that time he could still get a valuable long-term deal...

I think a lot of teams will probably steer clear of him at this point. And yeah, I think he's looking at a short term deal now too. I was wondering why the Eagles didn't seem to care if they had to release him, it makes sense now.

I'm out of the loop, what did he do to get released? Aaron Hernandez is accused of killing someone execution style, and is in prison pending his trial, so I get why he was released...What did Jackson do?

Association with a gang who may be responsible for a couple of murders or so that is what I interpret it as.

If the Eagles just wanted to cut him loose, they should have just done so. If they're going to defame the guy, they should put up or shut up.

There is a ton of smoke out there right now. If I were the coach or owner of the Eagles, I would have likely made the same decision. He may not be a "gang member", but he sure as hell is linked with gang members.

Jackson was one of their better players and there had to be good evidence of him being in a gang. He flashed a couple gang signs during games last year.

RE: NBR: Eagles release WR DeSean Jackson
Let's put it this way - where are his teammates stepping out to be quoted in Jackson's defense? Where are the tweets?

A team does not just cut loose a guy that talented in the prime of his career that way. Look at his numbers last season in Chip Kelly's offense. They are not covered up with talents that will replace him either.

Add in this, the Eagles have been shopping the guy for the last several weeks and found no takers, and I think by the end of last week they would have been happy to get a 5th or 6th rounder for him.

No, nothing has been proved, but something smells bad here.

RE: NBR: Eagles release WR DeSean Jackson
Sometimes this board really frightens me. Is this typical of a gang-member:

Jackson is, contrary to this off-field image people have cultivated for him, a pillar of the community. He runs The DeSean Jackson Foundation—a charity that does everything from promote literacy and educate youth about bullying, to fighting against pancreatic cancer, a disease which claimed Jackson’s father. Furthermore, Jackson’s segment on ESPN’s “My Wish” series, wherein he invited Donovan Troy, a 10-year-old boy who had his spleen removed as a toddler and requires monthly blood transfusions, to spend the day with him at the Eagles’ training facility in Philadelphia is a total tearjerker:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/20...ooper.html

I'm notbuying this BS about Jackson and his relation to gangs. I think this is more about Chip Kelly not being able to control Jackson. One reason you may not hear Jackson's teammate step out for him because they may not like him for the way he carries himself on the field and in the locker room. The only thing that smells bad hear is stereotyping.
