Currently, the U.S spends about 3% of gdp on defense while european countries spend 1%. we protect them and they dont pay for it. Obama was right in calling them out.

I have been saying that for years. Canada annoys me. they boast about their economy knowing that they don't have to spend much money on defense because if they get attacked, the U.S. will be there. We should just pull a Putin and take control of Canada saying that many U.S. citizens are being harrassed.

That would mean even more Canadians would be getting US healthcare.

I have a feeling though that even if we weren't protecting Europe we'd find a way to spend 3% of GDP on defense. Though I guess if you could put that towards research in advanced weapons we'd still be money ahead.

Idk if I agree with this, but:
Maybe it could be argued that since we have a larger GDP, we are able to spend more. The other countries have less resources as a single unit, but together they are able to contribute just as much, or maybe more than the US.
