There are also kids who go to prep schools to try and up their offer list. Maybe Stokes thought he was too good to play in the MAC.

Oh, I gotcha. So, instead of academics he could be wanting to work on his game a little more in the hope of getting a better offer?

Well, seems to me if he was NBA material he wouldn't need to go to prep school to work on his game. So, if the NBA is not in his future maybe he gets an offer to a Big Money Conference school. Big Deal.

stokes signed His LOI with UT. If he was thinking of going to a bigger conference or program why not transfer to a top JC for a year if he's eligible to graduate HS. Prep schools to me are where you go if you either don't have the test scores or don't have the transfer credits or transfer credit issues to either graduate HS or get thru the clearing house. A JC player, if eligible from the clearinghouse to play your freshmen year, can transfer to any D1 program after 1 year and still have four years to play three. If this kid thinks he's going to the league at 18 then he probably wouldn't stay all four years at a school. Other than grades going to a prep school to me is where a kid with poor offers (no D 1) goes. This wouldn't be where a Mid Major D1 offer and signed kid would go. Look at Darius Paul at WMU after 1 year he transferred to UI. gaining experience at prep level isn't the same as doing it at D1 or High JC level.

I wonder if the Assistant Coaches Merry Go Round this offseason had anything to do with Stokes decision? Having an Assistant Coach or Coaches leave that you might have formed a bond with during recruiting could effect a player's psyche. Maybe with the new assistant coaches finally onboard now, we can re-recruit Stokes for this season or for next season. It really hurts not to have a freshman point guard who can gain some valuable experience coming off the bench this season and then take over for Juice Brown next season and start for three years.

Jordan Mincy recruited Stokes, and he sure got out of town fast. Wonder if Stokes ends up at La Tech with him. Here's a novel idea. How about bringing in a former UT player as an assistant, or even a Director of Operations and train him.
