I think it is very fitting that the regular season co-champions will play for the MAC's NCAA bid. The rubber match should be a good one! Just one more win! Let's go Rockets!!!!

Officiating looked pretty reasonable on TV. At least a couple calls that had the Rocket faithful in a frenzy were clearly accurate using the benefit of replay. A couple obvious travels, one by JD and one by their big guy went uncalled. For the most part the refs let them play.

Great effort last night by both teams. Hard fought game. Toledo attacked the zone effectively most of the night.

Most impressive thing for me was that when we struggled on offense we didn't let it effect out defense

If we commit to 40 min of defense, we will be satisfied with the result.

One other thing -- memo to the 15 EMU students in attendance -- the DUI chant is getting pretty old.

Attendance seemed way down last night. In past years Akron has brought so many more people.

I've been watching the last game UT played against Western (the overtime win - I still have it on my DVR). Rockets haven't played many good minutes against Western this season: were getting beaten by double digits in both games and made a rally in each, one rally good enough to pull out a W.

I said this about yesterday's game and of course it applies to tonight's game too: Rockets need forty solid minutes.

Agree. 35 did it last night but need 40 today

RE: UT - EMU: MAC Semis
Most teams are not in a position to win a championship most years, so it is important that a team makes the most of its opportunity when it does find itself in that position because you never know when (or if) you will be ever be in that position again. That is what is so frustrating about the football team -----losses to NIU for 4 straight years have cost them a trip to the MACC game------likewise, WBB for the 5 years previous to this one had a decent chance to win the MAC Tourney at least 4 of those years and were probably the favorite to do so at least 2 of those years, yet came up empty---when will they be in that position again? not this year and probably not next year either.

The UT men were in the MAC championship finals in 2006, 1996 and 1991 but lost----their last win in the Championship Game was Bobby Nicols' great 1979-1980 team 34 years ago----OVER A THIRD OF A CENTURY AGO-----UT is long overdue for a trip to the NCAA!!

However, I do have a feeling that TK is going to accomplish what neither Beckman/Campbell or Cullop have yet achieved and that is win a REAL MAC championship (the kind that gets you to the NCAA, as well as hanging a banner). The good news is that I thought that UT gave EMU their best defensive team effort of the year based on an entire game and if the entire team can somehow manage to summon up the focus and intensity that Rian Pearson brought to the game last night, they will be fine tonight (and beyond).

Win or lose -- Not going to happen at all. WMU is *pissed* at Toledo for swiping that win from them... much like WMU swiping the win away from Akron last night.

This game's for all the marbles, really. NCAA tournament. Whoever loses, goes to the NIT. And whoever wins, also gets to say they "really" won the MAC.

I give WMU the edge. BUT, with that said, if David Brown for WMU plays as bad as he did last night, Toledo will definitely win.

If you were only watching on TV vs. being there live, you'd have no idea how horrible and one sided this crew was. To say that they did a nice job was the misstatement of the year. Here's to hoping the Rockets don't have to play against 6 guys tonight, WMU and the stripes.

Usually much better to rate refs from TV. Replay shows how often they were right when In knew they missed a call. Much less often I am right. I don't want to sound like the WMU fans. Refs were fine and will be again.

I was at the game. Just because you didn't like the calls doesn't mean the crew did a bad job. Once you understand the rules and why officials make certain calls, you'll realize that officials generally do a good job.

I was actually much more swayed by H2O's defense of referees than yours because as a self confessed referee yourself, while bringing knowledge to the discussion you also inherently bring very strong personal biases and I suspect the latter outweighs the former. Besides, he sounds less patronizing.

Yep. I work at a bank. I don't blindly defend all bankers on everything like he does refs.

It is not necessarily what is called and the benefit of watching replay from home. Many times it is what isn't called or what is called on one team but not equally called at the other end of the floor. Go ahead and anylize the replays from your couch while our guys were getting hacked, shoved, pushed off, and non called much more than EMU. If you were at the game and within earshot you would have also heard me agreeing with some of their close calls while vast majority of UT fans at the game were screaming for striped blood. Yeah I am a UT homer, but I know what a foul is and isn't. Enjoy our win from your couch.

People don't go after someone who works at a bank the way they go after an official that makes a critical call that goes against their team.
Try reading another team's board after a close loss. The fans on the losing team always rip the refs for costing them the game.

It's not so much personal bias but rather a better understanding of the game which helps when you become a ref. I may defend them too much but I've yet to see a game this year that was greatly affected by the officiating. Perhaps you'll disagree.

I love our fan base but it's become increasingly difficult to sit with them. Even before I became a ref, I'd get tired of the constant bickering at the officials. It gets annoying. But, that is the beauty of watching a game live...you can yell at whoever and whenever you want.

Not all toledo fans. A handful are obnoxious and half are just biased 25% don't know the game and the other 25% are just quiet. We are no worse than any other university there are just more of us so just enjoy your bias and let everyone else have there's without pioty.
