Softball Tops Oklahoma State, 4-3, In Walk-Off Fashion



DENTON, Texas - The Mean Green came back from a two-run deficit to top regional foe Oklahoma State, 4-3, in walk-off fashion when senior Jordan Terry advanced home on an overthrown ball at first base.

North Texas, which had dropped two tough ones earlier in the week to Texas, got the win in its third bout with a Big XII opponent in two days, and senior starting pitcher Ashley Kirk recorded her 50th-career win in her eight complete-game performance of the season.

"After not being able to put a Texas game in the win column, this was an important game for us to come out and compete in," coach Kee said. "Obviously we have things to fix, but I was extremely pleased with Ashley Kirk and how she battled back after last night. She came out today, kept the ball in the ball park and put our team in a position to win."

After falling behind in the top of the second inning by two, sophomore Taylor Schoblocher doubled down the left field line to score junior Dani Hoff. With Schoblocher still at second, junior Kat Strunk stepped up to the plate and smashed a two-run home run over the left field wall to put NT ahead of the Cowgirls, 3-2.
