I'm fine with playing the tournament there, but it's going to have its own set of problems.

yeah there are pros & cons with every location.

with MSG you will always have......

1. fewer empty seats
2. more media coverage
3. more gate revenue

1. conjecture
2. The tournament will get national media coverage where ever it is held.
3. More conjecture

sorry dude but you are flat out wrong on this NYC/MSG is simply on a whole different level. anyone who understands marketing/branding knows this.

Please explain the additional media coverage the ACC tournament will get by being in MSG. Are you talking about New York newspapers and local news? Because it already gets coverage in the national media.

NYC is the media capital of the world...yes, more media members would show up when MSG is 15 blocks from their job site. It is so cool to see games blasting in Times Square....just a whole different vibe.

let me put it this way.

if someone shoots you in the middle of times square or in north carolina how much media attention do you think each location is going to get?

the truth is that the media is like a food chain. the bigger the city the more attention you will get. how many people do you think walk by greensboro on any given night? how many do you think walk by madison square garden.

playing MSG is "the biggest stage" and playing a game there is not only a better atmosphere but builds up the hype for a game. The BE built a power conference out of nothing using MSG as an asset.

So the extra media attention is putting the game up on the screen in Times Square.

you only make yourself look childish with statements like these.

trying to argue that downtown NYC doesn't give a sports event a media boost is like trying to argue gravity doesn't exist

I simply asked for some tangible examples of this additional media coverage. The only one that was given was the game would be on the big screen in Times Square.

like i said trying to pull the "links/examples or it didn't happen" card on this subject is pretty childish and pretty naive.

Never asked for a link. I asked for some tangible examples of the additional media exposure. I think the national media coverage would be pretty much the same. It should get more coverage in the New York newspapers and local tv there. Considering how big New York City is that's worth taking into account.

The 6OT game between Cuse/UConn was iconic...MSG set the scene. It grabbed the sporting world's attention. MSG made it possible.

How about Matt Lauer interviewing and having some fun with the various BE fans on the Today show yesterday?

How/why would Pitt fans have tickets allotted for the Clemson/GT game tonight. Why not sell them by a game by game basis? Tell me why a Syracuse fan would sit through 4 games today and only one will have an impact on their game tomorrow.

Your comment indicates that you don't understand ACC traditions. If you are a big donor, you get to buy a book. Only a very strange and anti-social person attends just one half of a session. One of the reasons we attend the other games is to pull against who we despise and who we like. Perhaps one day you will understand, but don't expect it change.

So why was there about 3k fans watching GTech/Clemson? An awful lot of anti-social big donor ACC fans.

And perhaps one day you will realize that it has already changed, and those ACC traditions you refer to are fading fast. Tickets aren't hard to come by anymore. You don't have to be a major donor to get them. And now that only 40% of the league were members during the tourney's glory years there isn't going to be the same kind of atmosphere ever again.

That doesn't mean the tournament can't be good. But the excitement that came from having eight schools, all within driving distance, is gone forever.

LOL at North Carolina people thinking Greensboro provides the same level of coverage as New York City.
