Advertiser (newspaper) claims it takes 75% to vote for a new team
If all 13 teams get a vote, including Idaho and NMSU that means 10 of 13 have to vote yes to invite a new team.
If only 11 get to vote then that requires 9 of 11 to vote "yes."
I have no idea which schools are willing to consider Liberty and which are now, BUT I bet JMU probably could get that many votes and probably Missouri St. could too.

This all seems eerily similar to what happened with the WAC. Same commish even. There were just no teams left in the west that would join (Montana/JMU), were ready (EKU), or could get the votes to join (Liberty). Then everybody got restless and the whole thing unraveled.

I think it's been pretty well established that it takes 75% of the schools (though there has been some disagreement on if NMSU/Idaho get the same voting power as full members).

RE: Advertiser (newspaper) claims it takes 75% to vote for a new team
I had asked the question on a couple other threads as to what percentage was required. I never got an answer but now the Advertiser has put it out there. I guess the only question now is whether NMSU and Idaho have a vote on a 12th football school and all sports member.
Anyone know the answer to that?

Who was the team in the WAC that couldn't get the votes? Lamar maybe? I always thought they just weren't ready.
Anyway, as luck would have it, it's a different scenario, as when it was happening with the WAC, there was plenty of movement going on in FBS. Now? Not so much.

The WAC lost the top of the conference and rivals. Those left wanted out. The SBC lost some good and some bad. Not many rivals were broken.
Having been through the WAC it was different then this. Though there is still a lot of unrest from ASU and UL.

Its similar to the WAC, but in our case, we know we have teams that could come in...we just may have to wait a year to bring them in.
That, and we've been smart enough to bring teams into the league that wont automatically appear on another leagues expansion list.

Three-fourths vote of the 11 full members.

Does App State and Georgia State have full voting rights as of this moment or does that kick in after June 1?

Why would it kick in a year after joining? Oh you meant Ga Southern.

It has been said that both Ga. Southern and App have full voting rights, even though we are not officially in until July 1.

I assume they will have full voting rights like Texas St did last year.

Do you have any insight on how each school would vote on the three schools we hear a lot about: JMU, MSU, and LU?

I would guess that JMU and Missouri St have the votes. Liberty I just don't see it.

I'd like to hear how you guys think it breaks down school by school for Liberty. I've seen heard that some folks have said that we are currently 2 votes short (meaning currently 7 yes, I guess), but I have no info one way or the other.
From What I've heard some of the folks no wanting any new members (especially to the East) are also the ones rumored to be trying to leave. Ironic.

Seven yes? Trying to think who would vote yes. App, GS, who else? Troy? Would any west member vote yes? Cant imagine any non football school would vote yes as Liberty does nothing for MBB.

I don't have a clue how GaSt, GaSo, App would vote on Liberty or Mo State though I'd suspect they all support JMU.
For Mo St I think you can count on: AState, UL, UALR, ULM, and probably USA as solid. Suspect TXST, UTA, and Troy would be yes votes but not solid, though USA and UTA would be most likely to be solid yes.
For JMU: AState would be a solid yes, suspect UALR and ULM would be a weak yes, tend to believe TXST and UTA would be in that boat (none likely want the trip but if the league goes divisional in multiple sports it likely saves money). USA and Troy I think are yes.
For Liberty: I think Troy would be a solid yes. AState and UL probably solid no votes. Don't have a feel for where UTA, TXST, USA, ULM would fall on Liberty though I feel reasonably confident USA probably leans no.
