The MAC Wrestling Tournament gets under way this afternoon in Kent, OH. ODU has two No. 1 seeds - Chris Mecate at 141 and Billy Curling at 174. You can follow on flowrestling.com or theopenmat.com. I'll post any results as I get them. Here's hoping Martin qualifies an army of battle-cats for the NCAA Championships in 2 weeks!

ODU was 7-3 in the quarterfinal round. Losers were Hayes (133), Geoghgan (165), & Beazley (197). ODU currently in 3rd, 1.5 points behind Missouri for 2nd.

ODU sends 4 to the championship match tomorrow!!!

I know the two #1 seeds, but were the others pretty good upsets.

Mecate (141), Richardson (149), Curling (174), & Dechow (184) are in the finals. Mecate & Curling were 1 seeds; Dechow 3 seed (I believe); Richardson 4 seed. I wouldn't consider any of them huge upsets. There was a seeding quirk at 149 where the No. 1 kid in the country most of the season (from Mizzou) was seeded 2nd at the MAC Tournament. Don't ask me why, but it worked out in Lenny's favor. All are still alive in the wrestlebacks. ODU is now 3.5 behind Mizzou for 2nd.

ODU has slipped to 4th after the wrestlebacks. Hayes (133) & Geoghegan (165) are out. Tomorrow's a big day!

Does anybody know who the wrestlers the four Monarchs will be facing in the finals are?

Thank you. It was a great day today. Here's to an historic day for ODU grapplers tomorrow!

Team scores so far. ODU still has 8 guys in the tournament. Northern Iowa 97, Missori 89.5, Ohio 81, ODU 79..... We could very well be headed to the NCAA tournament with 8 guys!!!

Jeske (125), Warner (157), Beazley (197), & Tourdot (HWT) all in consolation finals. ODU comfortably in 3rd. Could have 8 qualifiers after the next round.

Jeske places 3rd. Qualified for nationals. We have 6 secured for NCAAs, 2 others will need wild-cards next week.

For those of us, me specifically, who are not wrestling experts, does that mean that he won the consolation final?

Mecate placed 2nd. Was pinned in a spladdle...ouch.

Richardson loses in OT to No.1 Houdesheldt, 3-1.

Warner finishes 4th. Pinned by Lavallee from Mizzou. Already qualified for NCAAs.

Curling loses 4-2 in the finals. Dechow up now.
