Have we ever had a senior class this big...
Where none of the outgoing seniors never embarrassed the school or it's fans off the court with academics or knuckleheaded actions.

Swing already has his degree. Alihodzic already has his degree. Williams already has his degree. Moton already has his degree. Not sure about Purifoy or Rucker.

No police blotter. No rumors. Just a great bunch of kids.

Congratulations to these players, this coaching staff, and the Davis coaching staff for no drama off the court the last couple of years.

Now go beat MTSU

I think we had 6 seniors 1 year or maybe it was 5 seniors & 1 junior who ended up flunking out.

If you mean Marques Lewis, he graduated a year later in 2005

The 93-94 team had six seniors. They finished the season 22-8. They lost 8 games by a grand total of 31 points, or 3.87 points per loss.

What were the names of those six seniors?

UAB has had several classes with six seniors. This thread was about the fact that these six have kept their noses clean, academically, legally and hopefully literally.

I know for a fact we have never had this many seniors who have already received their degrees

As are we all. An old saying is that "all bring joy to a group - some by arriving, some by staying, some by leaving". It is a good thing to be able to say we are not glad to see any of these guys leave.

RE: Have we ever had a senior class this big...
I'm proud of our current senior class, and I'm sure that more of them have graduated on time than any past class.

But the six seniors we had in 1982 were pretty solid then, and have stayed that way for more than 30 years. It doesn't hurt, either, that they led us to our best season ever in '82, and that four of them were NBA draft picks.

Oliver Robinson, a couple of years with the Spurs, then bank executive, now state representative
Chris Giles, college coach for several schools, including UAB (did have some trouble at Miles)
Norman Anchrum, I think he retired as a Birmingham police officer
Jonath Nicholas, long-time women's college coach, now at St. John's
Donnie Speer, long-time UAB athletics and Bartow Arena employee until he had to retire for health reasons
Craig Lane, was a basketball ref, not sure now?, all-around good guy

**Edited....since I may have had some incorrect information about Donnie, which from all indications doesn't look like it was true. I had heard it, but have not been able to confirm it, and do not want to spread a false rumor. My deepest apologies for posting such serious misinformation, even if unintentional.

I recall it being within the last 3 to 4 years or so.

I went to Gene Bartow Basketball camp with his brother in the mid 80's.

I don't remember it being announced like Ogg and Rembert was. I've searched online for an obituary or something.

I haven't found anything yet on it.
I think Donnie used to help out around the arena at games.

An article from 2011 where Donnie had his number retired at high school.

He doesn't look in great health in this article.

More than help out. He had Steve Mitchell's job. He was in charge of the arena.
