I agree with the talent part , and don't know about the point guard remark. Yes, we lost the starter, but, I think the cream might have risen to the top. If he was any better than Devonte, he'd probably be considered for All American. Don't see how you could run this offense any better than Devonte has.

Absolutely on point. We found out earlier in the season that D'Vonte is the real deal. He's a winner. Always has been. No disrespect to J.T., but D'Vonte had better be the man at the point guard position until he graduates. Otherwise, I'll really be disappointed. And he's a good enough shooter to play the two guard if needed.04-cheers

I love Devonte. I haven't seen enough of JT to really evaluate him. The coaches thought JT was the better point guard at the start of the season. But, of course, they don't know anything about coaching or evaluating talent.

I would love to hear their feelings now. I don't think D'Vonte is going to lose the starting job unless he's injured, and hopefully he won't. The main reason I think we have a chance to win a game or two in the SBC tournament is D'Vonte. He's the engine that moves this team. If he doesn't score, he'll get the ball to someone who can. He's a proven winner at every level he's played. You can't coach that. Certain players have it. If he was 6'2" or taller, he'd be starting for a national championship contender.04-cheers

RE: You guys saw first hand
The past few games trying to evaluate individual talent from the cheap seats I have gone back and forth on Maurius Hill and Mariek Isom. Knowing their development and contribution is needed now and in the future I'm hoping the best for both. With Neighbour out they have been getting more PT and seem to be doing well. It seems strange to be saying it but, It does seem the Trojans are playing ball more as a team without Will. About DeVonte Smith. If he is beaten out next year it could mean Trojan recruiting is definitely getting better. DeVonte and Josh bring lots of excitement to Trojan ball.

I think the shortened rotation has helped.

I do like smith better than jt at the point due to the fact he looks to turn the corner.,

College basketball at our level is controlled by the pg.

Can't stand him as a person or a coach, but he is an excellent commentator. One main reason I like him is that he is not afraid to call it like it is and say, "That is awful basketball."

Good point, and I have wondered the same thing. J. T. was doing awfully well, and presumably would have improved as the season progressed. How good might he have been? Who knows? But we do know how well DeVonte has done. We could have two pretty fair points next season.

They are both freshmen. A long way to go for them. The question is, Will they get better? Looks like they might.

You don't think we got outcoached? I know you are a huge Boyer defender, but don't defend Brady for this. He was thoroughly outcoached by Shields. It was embarrassing.

I though we got outplayed in both games. Outcoached, I don't think so. You can have a good game plan and still get beat. You can't knock down the shots or execute the play for them.

Brady got out coached.

There should be a ground swell at asu to fire him.
saying he got outcoached is easy to say, explain how and maybe I will agree with you, give me specifics.

There are a small number of great coaches out there. I think Larry Brown is one who could beat a lot of folks even with less talent. Bill Self may be another- 10 straight Big 12 titles is more than just some good luck. At this moment, I don't know that we have any great coaches in the Sun Belt. I think we have a lot of good coaches. But, in the end, the one with the most talent will more likely than not, win the league.
