''I knew we were in trouble when we went up seven, and our guys acted like junior high kids,'' Pitino said. ''I knew they weren't focused to put the team away. That was very disappointing for a defending national champion to act like they just won the game being only up seven points on the road. That was very disappointing that our guys lost focus like that.''

So... the Tigers won only because the Defending National Championship players were magically transformed into silly adolescents with about 5 minutes left in the second half. Tough to box out against Shaq when you're 12 years old.

That's the only reason, because Coach Perv-beard said it, and he coached the National Championship team last year, so it must be the truth.

Cannot disagree with anything he said. They had us in a position to put the nail in the coffin and forgot how they got there.

Or maybe our Tigers just stepped it up a notch or 10 and made them forget how they got there.

We had them rattled from the get-go flurry of points and for the majority of the game.

But go ahead and find ways to misconstrue things so you feel better about hating him/them.

Exactly. I have seen the Tigers come out and jump on the other team early and go up big and they start to strutt and pound their chests...only to have the other team get a second win and make a game of it.

When Memphis loses it's "the shots just didn't fall." How is that crediting the other team?

Louisville inexplicably stopped going to Harell down the stretch.

Both Smith and Jones took hero shots. Once Memphis started rolling they could not get it back.

Pitino was right in terms of his team's odd possessions late. But we really put the pressure on them.

RE: Pitino explains loss
I caught up with Rick at Lester's Used Tables late last night. He said the Tiger's 15-1 run at the end of the game completely snuck up on the players and coaching staff because they were so preoccupied with setting up this really cool alley-oop play they'd rehearsed all last week. Rick said when the horn sounded, he was really shocked. The team took it really hard too; everyone was in tears all the way back to Louisville. They had worked really, really hard on that play.

Poor guys.
