(03-02-2014 12:30 AM)Joe1 Wrote:  we have some tiger fans in this thread and this board that border line hate Joe. That is sad, truly it is. Josh has Joe Jackson to thank for going to the ncaa tournament 3 years straight. His freshman year Joe was playing bad going into the cusa tournament and he rose up out of nowhere and put the team on his back. He was tourney MVP both his freshman and sophomore years. We needed to win the conference tourney to even get a bid and Joe was the reason. How and why do people that claim to be Tiger fans rail and hate on Joe so much?? It is beyond odd to hate and rail on him when at the end of the day (this year) he will be 6th on the list of scoring and only one of two players in the history of Tiger basketball to score 1500 or more points, over 500 assists, and over 150 steals. It would seem like the thing to do is to try and encourage and pull his mind and heart up out of the funk that he is in. If you are betting against him, please PM me, so we can really bet some real $$$ on whether or not he rises up and turns it around. He has already proven that he can do that when he did it as a freshman, like a mentioned above. Lastly, no one here would have bet on Chris Crawford playing well today after the crap effort he had in Houston. So, go ahead and bash away on the guy. But please PM if you want to bet real money. If he plays great against Cincy, and helps us win, will we see these same posters that are blasting him now praise him for his good play?? I will be watching. We will see if you are real Tiger fans or not.

And then there's you, the guy that's obsessed with Joe.

RE: This is Mike Dixon's team.
This is Joe's team. I love Joe. Everyone loves Joe! This is his team. Where would our program be today without Joe?!

But this thread is about honoring Dixon for the desire, effort, and intensity he has brought night in and night out since he has been a Tiger and how it is currently carrying this team while, for whatever reason, Joe has stepped aside in that role and isn't bringing it lately. Joe's assistant Dixon has stepped up magnificently.

Joe will get it together. He always has. Joe has had more than his fair share of threads honoring his leadership in the past, and deservedly so, but Dixon carried us to victory today, and seemed to be the only one trying to carry us to victory against our loss to UH. This is Dixon's hard-earned time in the spot light. I have no doubt Joe will give us reason to produce several more threads honoring his leadership before he finishes out his career as a Tiger, hopefully one titled "This is Joe Jackson's National Championship Team." But right now Dixon is earning that spotlight. Come on Joe we need you we know you got in you to make us a two headed monster JJ/Dixon team!

JJ wasn't the guy to ice off the W and sweep our most heated rival, Dixon was. Kudos to Pastner for recognizing that. Hopefully JJ has bigger fish to fry in the Big Dance.

Not at all, we wouldn't have won without Dixon yesterday but it is not his team. The guy has two good games and now everyones in love with him, when half way through the season after UF people called for his head.

The team goes with Joe. Simple. He is the leader and has been since he got here.

I root and pull for them all. I don't get the "kick him why he's down" mentality about anyone, but mainly why the crap would some of our fans do it to Joe?

RE: This is Mike Dixon's team.
This thread is about the intensity and effort Dixon is bringing right now, but some want to derail it into a JJ lovefest. All people are saying is right now JJ isn't bringing that same intensity as Dixon, and until yesterday Chris and Geron were also suspect of late, but not yesterday. Why some of you can't call it for what it is instead of throwing out 3 year stats and such to defend one player, is not seeing the big picture. I still stand by what i said Friday, Dixon has put the challenge out there "it's time to go", who's with me. I got acccused of bashing the other 3 guards of course, so you tell me who brought it yesterday? Now and till the end we need them all, they can, and I hope they will. The Mrs. even commented, "Joe used to play like that, what happened".

Do you?

"I am not a fan of Dixon, I feel, much like my 20 year old last night said, I think he hogs the ball. my dad calls him "the black hole" and no this has nothing to do with race for the folks that want to call someone out for something that they aren't." - Joe1

Like I said yesterday, I think we have fans who would rather lose with #badJoe on the court than win with Dixon. More often than not this year Joe had been good, but I have NO problem with Josh sitting Joe when he isn't helping the team, and rolling with Mike Dixon at the point. I don't care if he's not a Memphian, and I don't care if he's a one year player, and guess what, neither does Pastner.

Now nothing right there suggest I'm a Joe hater, because I'm not. When Joe is playing with fire in his eyes he's a GREAT player. But when he's not, he's just okay. Dixon seems to bring it every night regardless of whether or not his shots fall, and I can appreciate that FAR more than anything else. I love Dixon's energy and defense. I love Joe when he's super aggressive with the ball. I hope #goodjoe returns.

450bench said he wasn't a fan of Joe's. he also said take what I say with a grain of salt. Now, I don't have to be a huge fan of his to cheer for him and the full team of Tigers. I know you can understand this. Lastly, and this is my favorite, I am a season ticket holder, and have been for a long time. I go to the Tiger games to only cheer a few of the Tigers??? Get real, every game I cheer on the whole team. All anyone would ever have to do is come to section 107A to see if that is so. Go Tigers!

RE: This is Mike Dixon's team.
Dixon is playing like a man possessed right now. No knock on Joe, but Dixon ain't messin around, gettin his head down, or questioning himself. He is taking it to the other team and wearing them out. We know Joe can do this too, time to see a tag team on the court and Joe get his head back up. Joe has taken over too many games late with his heroics. They dont call Crawford clutch for nothin. Geron is a man out there playing at a level, well, strong with the ball and lightning quick in transition. We need these guys to recognize they area unit, one for all and all for one and bring this thing home. Play smart, feed the post, play defense and run the other team to death.

Yeah, never have been a fan of Joe's. I want him to do well for the team's sake, however. Not sure how I got brought in to this, but ok.

RE: This is Mike Dixon's team.
The ONLY thing that has ever bothered me about Joe is he seems to wear his emotions on his sleeve. Dixon, to his credit, really does a good job of not letting anything get to him, and there have been times this season that fans were very vocal and annoyed with his shot selection. Dixon just plays hard and I admire that.

I brought you in on it as an example. I too don't have to be a big fan of a player, in this case Dixon, to hope the team wins.
