Thoughts on expansion
sounds like a week or so news about JMU to MAC will be coming out. If true, what next, will the MAC get some cahones and give UMASS the ultimatum. If UMASS stays do we sit at 14 or press on with two more? If UMASS bolts do we stay at 13 with JMU or add 1 more, 3 more.
I am a bit worried about Toledo and NIU leaving. I feel the AAC is gonna come knocking anytime. Even though Toledo has not won the MAC in a while in either sport, it is all about markets and toledo is in a big one. Also NIU has chicago market along with recent success.
I would hate to see them go, hopefully this yr the MAC can put a on the huskies and keep them in the conference.

NIU tried leaving for "greener" pastures once before, then had to go indy for a while when the Big West folded, then came limping back to the MAC. I'm not sure they are in a hurry to go anywhere, the frequent gripes of a few of their online fanbase aside. As for UT, they always seem to come up when expansion is mentioned, but I have yet to see anything serious develop there, even in rumor.
I would love to see UMASS go all-in, but precedent suggests the MAC will not force the issue anytime soon. If/when JMU joins, it would at least even out the divisions again.

I agree with CMF, I don't think NIU and UT are going anywhere soon (or later). Also, I'm not in favor of JMU joining the MAC. It reminds me of James Madison Memorial High School here, in Madison. I understand the market, but I'd rather see Illinois State, Indiana State, or Missouri State.

If the MAC gets the 1 million plus tv contract, If I were MAC commish, I would throw an invite to UCONN/CINCY.
UCONN is mid tier mac level at best. CINCY has the money and they have dreams of grandeur but in reality are a top MAC level team. They lost to Toledo last yr or yr before and Toledo ended up MACW 3rd place
