Michael Sam "Underwhelming"
Sam's performance was only average.
So, will there still be a fallout for his dropping draft stock?

Yes because... it had already been decided.

Considering the fallout from his dropping pants, we may be surprised..........
............if he gets drafted within four rounds.

He was considered average at the beginning; going in between the 3rd and 5th round. Coming out just made some people decide that he should go super high, while making others think that he shouldn't even make it.
I see why he really didn't want to come out in the first place.

Sam had reasonably good draft prospects until the Senior Bowl when they dropped. After that, he came out. I suspect that he did it in order to provide an excuse for dropping and in order to garner some sympathy.
This alone will be enough reason for many GMs to pass on him.

There were rumors going around. He was trying to get ahead of it.

He still has his Pro Day to impress the scouts. He will probably feel more comfortable in a familiar environment. Monti Te'o had a similar experience last year.

I said when all this broke, it'll come down to this: either you can play or you can't.

It was a heck of a lot more about him dancing topless at a gay bar. He decided that he might as well get out in front of it.

Yes.
As long as he is involved (or seeks to be involved) in the world of professional sports, Everything and Anything "negative" that happens to him will be held up in the media as an example of "homophobia" on the part of one or more people.

That's paranoia. If the guy can play he will play. It won't matter one bit that he's gay or straight.
Just WIN BABY.

It'll matter if he's drafted late. It'll matter anytime there are questionable calls involving him. It'll matter if he gets dropped.
Lot of situations it's going to matter.

I believe he wanted to, it brought him attention. There are far too many steps he could have taken to dance away from the question, "Is your girlfriend going to be at your games?"

You say that like he's got girl tits... I had a few friends that would go to gay bars back in the day... When I asked why the hell they did, one said they can show their chest or dick and get free drinks all night, they'd all cruise up there with their girls too.
So, he could have gotten around that question too.

It won't matter to his teammates and coaches, Niccolò. But it will matter a great deal to the media, and it's the media-reaction that I was talking about.

But why jump through those hoops? Why play dumb cat-and-mouse games with the media, and then give them a "gotcha" moment when he's found out to be gay AND and a liar?
And how's he going to keep a lid on it when his whole damn college team knew?
All he did was diffuse a ticking bomb, and I don't blame him a bit.
He'll land somewhere (or not) according to his abilities.
And if he flames out (no pun intended) like a helluva lot of rookies do, there will be crybabies saying it was because he was gay, and they'll be wrong.

Well how about, it's nobodys business? When asked, "I don't find it necessary to discuss my personal life, but let's DO talk football." That's how it should be whether you're gay or not. Either the NFL used him as bait to get attention or he did it to himself, one or the other. If this was 10 years ago, nobody is even thinking about whether he's gay or not. ESPN was actually interested in discussing football to football players.

Because he'd be badgered about it mercilessly by that same media. Try being a public figure and telling a reporter "it's none of your business" and see what happens.
TMZ makes its living off that crap.
