NIU75, no one is saying he is leaving now. Some think maybe after next or the year after that. I think even you posted that he would only be here for two more years. You said he would get fired or leave for a better job.

Good memory. If MM gets back to back 20 wins, he will have the resume to be considered for a better job in two years. We finally have hope for the program.

I had my doubts about his coaching ability(X and Os and fundamentals). Just watch the team try to run a pick and roll or pick and pop. The guard has no clue how to set his man up or run the defender into the pick. The picker rarely rolls to the basket or pops to a free space. It is ironic that NIU can defend the pick and roll very well but have a problem running it on offense. This is just one of many offense skill sets NIU can improve on. As you know, 3 or 4 plays make a ball game or FTs can make a difference.

He has overcome those O deficiencies by having the players play hard on D and recruiting better players.

I hope MM is gone in two years because that means NIU had a very successful program. He will leave the program in better shape than the mess he inherited 3 years ago. See you at the next game.

I believe that there is a good chance that Monty is going to succeed here. If he leaves because of doing well here, look for Jon Borovich(assistant) to become the Huskies next coach.

I'd rather hire another assistant from a big program like we did for Monty. I'm sure Frazier will take that route as well.

If we have good players on the roster which I think we will, you can get them to stay by hiring the assistant. The same thing we did with Carey.

Not necessarily. Did that assistant recruit them? Do the players like the assistant? Did they only come to NIU because of Monty? You never know with these things.

Most of the time, kids transfer for other reasons besides the one you gave. (Playing time, closer to home, relationships with certain coaches/other players, etc)

I don't mean every kid will stay every time. You are right you never know. Life is day to day.

That would be my guess as well if they decide to promote from within.

This is a young team with additional talent on the bench ready to step in next season...
If you can't get enthused for this team you need to find another team to root for...
