It just sucks that half of the home schedule is now completely gone because of the snow

I drove by the field today and it looked great. They just need to shovel the snow out of the stands.

The NCAA is so blinded by BCS football they fail to see the potential of college baseball. It would require nothing more than making the seasons calendar work equally well for norther schools.

Minor league baseball makes money. Colleges already have the stadiums, all they need is to make it a summer sport, put lights in the parks, and bam, you got yourself a revenue sport.

Agreed, it is already starting to gain more and more popularity because of the CWS.

Half the Summer (June) is already taken up with NCAA tournament.

I don't see how artificial turf is going to push us to the proverbial "next level."

Maybe we should try better recruiting-coaching first.

Agreed...I'm out on the artificial turf, as I mentioned before.

I do think WMU has put baseball completely on the back burner. Gernon's salary is not competitive with our peer institutions. And the budget for any assistants is a complete joke.

I was fortunate enough to talk to a former assistant in the program a few years back. He shared with me his salary (which is public info anyhow). It was a joke.

One and two year contracts for the coaches doesn't work.

^yup, Time for new leadership for Bronco Baseball. Gernon has not produced. this team stinks. But, we will never get a solid coach and support staff paying a manager 70k per year. What a joke.

It really is sad Gernon has to work without a contract. Embarrassing really...The administration should just get rid of baseball if they don't care about it.

Most of the MAC is like that. Buffalo's coach is also year to year as are most all of the teams.

THe Admin can't get rid of baseball though as it is a conference requirement.

The turf is a big beal because it recovers from the winter faster. UB is playing their home games at a community college 50 miles away from Campus because they have artifical turn and lights. The field across from UB is not yet ready.

You guys were also up late in the first two games...

To be fair though UB has only lost one MAC series over the past two seasons (Lost to CMU this year 2-1). We got a hard draw to start conference play with CMU and BSU back to back.

^ to be fair, we have sucked for the last 7 years in baseball. Losing to Davenport 4 years ago highlights that. And the addition of Gernon, has not helped. our pitching still stinks. I agree with Jubba, drop the program if you dont care!

problem is, they can't drop the program, since it's a MAC requirement for full membership IIRC.

Lost again today to Akron 8-2 in a game played in Avon Lake,OH. It was designated as a non-league game. This leaves the Broncos (13-19) overall, and STILL no true home games played yet.

The Broncos lose two out of three at Ball State this past weekend. They play their first true home games for this season, this upcoming weekend. I actually thought the field looked good from a distance, when I was at the spring game this past weekend.
