RE: Other Friday & Saturday games (Feb 21/22, 2014)
Saturday games:
In a seesaw ending, #1 Oregon State lost its second consecutive game at the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge, Surprise, Ariz., on Saturday: 8-7 to Michigan State. The game had been tied since B3 when the Spartans scored a run in T8. The Beavers answered with 2 in B8 ... and Michigan State matched that with 2 in T9. A Spartan single was wiped out with a game-ending double play.
#7 Mississippi State spilt their doubleheader with Holy Cross today -- 8-4, 6-7 -- but they won the weekend series, 2-1.
#22 Cal Poly evened its series at #10 UCLA with an 8-0 win, thanks to Slater Lee's 2-hitter.
#18 Oklahoma State scored 4 in B9, but left the bases loaded and lost the second game of today's doubleheader with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (not the A's), 10-7. The Cowboys won the first game, 10-4, and the series, however.
#19 Arizona State lost its second game of the weekend, this time at UC-Irvine, 5-2. Both Sun Devil runs were unearned.
With 8-5 & 9-5 wins today, #24 ULaLa completed its sweep of Southern Miss in Hattiesburg.
USF beat #29 Oklahoma, 4-1, in Orlando. The Sooners gifted the Golden Kinghts' victory margin in B4, as USF scored 3 runs (and left the bases loaded) on two singles, 3 HBPs, a walk and a wild pitch.
#30 Kentucky beat Old Dominion, 7-5, in Norfolk. The Wildcats scored the final 3 runs with two outs in T7 on a solo home run and a single, two walks and a 2-RBI single.
