Shouldn't really interfere that much. Skyline is more to the north and east. This development I believe is supposed to be more due east of the ballpark.

From what I can see by their diagrams, it pretty much ruins the view from Regions Park.

Yeah, the skyline is going to be cut off from the majority of the park.

That sucks. The view was one of the truly neat things about the new ballpark.

I don't think it will interfere much with the downtown view. If I'm reading the proposal correctly, the new building might not even be visible in the photo below.

Exactly... the only view it might interfere with is basically some of the view of southside. The northside skyline should not be interfered with.

This won't have any impact on the view of downtown. All it'll due is cut off being able to see UAB hospital, which I don't think is a big deal.

The new UAB hospital building is quite impressive and gives the University a positive image with people in the stands. Especially with the big "UAB" on the side of it. I don't blame them for building this new apartment building, but I will miss the free advertising.

+1

I really like the fact that you could see "UAB" in a few prominent places along the skyline. Really good image building for free.

I just hope the Barons don't think that they are going to be selling tickets to that complex. Why would anybody with their own private skybox pay to sit in the cheapseats?

Really, the Baron's have a valid objection, if you ask me. I could see parties of dozens of people up there that otherwise would be ticket buyers.

It's one of the consequences of playing downtown. Surely they considered this possibility before agreeing to become the catalyst for growth for the Parkside District.

If the Baron's don't want to be subjected to the possibility of people being able to view their games from nearby multi-level buildings they could always go play their games in a stadium surrounded by pine trees....oh wait...

Hopefully the view from Children's Hospital is never obstructed... I can live with UAB being blocked, but the kids @ Children's having that special view is worth preserving.

Don't get me wrong. If this was already built right now, I'd be trying to get a lease on a backside unit BIG time.

But by the time this thing is completed, I'll probably have a kid and won't be interested in the condo life.

That's precisely what I'm worried about.

Venue at the Ballpark? I wonder if they could have thought up a more clunky-sounding name.

I would think there is some "agreement" between the Barons and the developers/city or the Barons would have lodged a complaint...

If you guys look at the photo above, it is clear that the apartments will be located behind B&A Warehouse which is located behind centerfield. The view of Children's Hospital is no where close to being obstructed by these apartments and wouldn't block it even if did sit in front of it. Children's Hospital is a 12-story building. The apartment complex looks like a 4-6 story building.
