How small does a brewery's operation have to be to be considered a "microbrewery"? According to this, Red Oak qualifies in NC. Love their beer.

Add Wiseacre and High Cotton to this list. Both new and serving quality local brew. Boscos was the first brew pub in Tenn. and has won numerous Great American Beer Fest medals.
Gordon Biersch closed its doors around ten years ago.

I was about to mention High Cotton as well. The owner has plans to open a tap room at the front door on Monroe soon. I sampled some last Wednesday. Pretty good stuff.

Hourglass Brewery in Longwood is pretty small and off the beaten path for non-locals, but they have some good stuff.

Orlando Brewing Company is near downtown, but is also a little tricky to find in the warehouse district. It is the largest of the local breweries and often has live music on the weekends. It is completely run by volunteers.

Cask and Larder is a Winter Park restaurant that also brews their own beer.

Finally, Orange Blossom Pilsner will be opening a small location soon in the Mills/Virginia district (up and coming area with lots of funky/good restaurants and bars).

From what I understand, St. Pete has really embraced the microbrew trend, but I'm sure our USF fans can tell us about that. A big damper to the trend in Florida has been the limitation on growler size, but it looks like lawmakers will be rectifying that soon.

St. Pete Brewing Company is opening in downtown St. Pete in about a month. Plan to hit it when I am down there next month.

Cincinnati has a number of microbrewries and we keep adding more. Only fitting with our German heritage and the fact we were the brewery capital of the US prior to prohibition.

Beer is good! 04-cheers

Karbach - The "Rodeo Clown" is a double IPA and my definite favorite of all local brews.

8th Wonder Brewery - located right next to BBVA Compass stadium, some of you UC fans who made it down may have tried it. A UH Hotel Management professor is the head brewer.

No Label - a small venture out west of Houston in Katy, Texas.

City Acre Brewing - a friend of mine is the owner of this one and they have some great seasonal stuff. Ginger, fruits...very flavorful stuff. Will be open for business once they clear permits with the city.

Texian, Pete's Brewing just to name a couple others. Of course the two biggest are Shiner about 2 1/2 hours or so southwest of Houston in Shiner, TX and Saint Arnold Brewery right here in downtown Houston.

Town in City Brewing - will be breaking ground soon. I'm excited about being able to walk there.

Fyi, No Label is run by a Coog. They have set up at some of our alumni tailgates. Also, St.Arnold's is featured as a concession option inside the stadium. Nothing like a couple of Christmas Ales during a UH game on a crisp 85 degree fall day in Houston. 04-cheers
