It doesn't matter if you're Bill Gates or the hobo at the corner of I-65 and University Boulevard. Everyone is held to the same legal standard. Just because Roddy is a UAB alum doesn't mean that this is something that should be ignored.

I agree with you, and I'm not defending him. I'm just saying he lives in a different world, so it is probably harder to get his attention with fines.

That's all fine and well. They probably did get his attention when they put that warrant out and he was arrested.

Has anybody read how they arrested him? I certainly would hope cops wouldn't show up at his door in the middle of the night. Normally, for minor offenses like this you only get taken in on the warrant if a cop comes across you for another reason.

Oh getting arrested got his attention. It certainly got the Falcons' attention, and ESPN, and the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, and CBS, NBC, Yahoo Sports... so he's probably paying attention now.

RE: Roddy White arrested
I got 2 traffic tickets in Pelham and only paid one (thinking I was paying both). First I knew of it was when the cops showed at my door. I wasn't allowed to pay them, had to be processed at jail, and had to be handcuffed...no exceptions. Then had to wait in a cell until a parent could arrive from Pell City to pay bond ($300). So from personal experience it doesn't matter who you are or where you live. Now I thought it inefficient that they didn't send anything via mail first, but it was my mistake so it's hard to complain.

Murry Bartow suspended PJ Arnold when he was arrested for unpaid traffic tickets.

RE: Roddy White arrested
I once got pulled over for a blown headlight at 3 one morning (going TO work). Jeffco deputy wrote me a fix-it ticket.

I replaced it that day, got a cop friend to initial it, and took it to the courthouse. Person at appropriate window was out to lunch. Person next window over said to give it to her and she'd take care of it.

One month later, I get a letter in the mail from Mike Hale telling me if I didn't get my ticket resolved, a warrant would be issued for my arrest.

After a couple decreasingly pleasant phone conversations, they either found it, or decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

RE: Roddy White arrested
I've found that how vigorous they pursue traffic tickets depends on if they've the time/inclination/political reasons to go after them otherwise they just rot in the system unpaid. If there's a political bout brewing over a bunch of unpaid tickets or a municipality needs revenue then you'll start to see them going after tickets probably through a contract company ie collection agency. Remember just a few yrs ago when all the Brookies & OTM people who'd been renewing their tags not at their actual home address which had higher costs but rather doing it at their lake homes which had lower costs as they were in other counties or unincorporated parts of the county?
