Troy/ Ga State Rivalry
A lot of you might be too young to remember but when Troy and Ga State use to be very heated rivals in basketball when we were both in the Atlantic Sun. Both schools were playing for conference championships often... Last night was a good way to renew our great basketball rivalry and hope the great games continue!04-cheers

Didn't really read that as an excuse, perhaps, more of an observation.

Anyway, I do recall the rivalries with Troy back in the day. Don Maestri regularly abused our coach at the time, Michael Perry. I have (I think it was the 2004-2005 A-Sun semi-final game) on VHS where Georgia State gave up a 15 or so point lead with about a minute and half left in the game all because Perry couldn't draw up a simple inbound play that couldn't result in a Troy steal or other turnover. SMH

Yeah, I think Doug covered a number of things that could have been the key to such a bad game for us.

I was actually at Mercer for part of the time that GSU and Troy shared in the TAAC/A-Sun, so I only saw the rivalry from across the conference. I think there's a great opportunity to get things going again now, though. We've got to figure out a way to win in that arena. The last two years have been heartbreaking.
