Two positions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If BB wanted to change the offense for the better, he should look at two positions......tight end and H-back, sometimes the same player, other times two different players. I would prefer two different players but this can be our most productive receivers, aka, G. Mills. The tight end is generally covered by a linebacker, normally not the best pass defender......an H-back is also covered by a linebacker, most of the time if three other receivers are in the formation. Depending on the number of receivers in the formation, a safety might cover either one of them......but a safety is still not as good as a CB in coverage. I would have two wideouts to take up the CB's, a slot receiver to take up a safety and put someone like Lucas at the H-back position coming out of the backfield(wingback).......there is no linebacker that could keep up with Lucas, it would be almost a guaranteed reception if he can catch the ball. These plays are perfect for the 3rd and 4+ yards. We had a speedster, DJ, who came out of the backfield(normally coming across the formation from the slot receiver position) and would catch a 3 yd pass and run for 20 yds with a safety in hot pursuit. Also on the 3rd and 4+ yds, the tight end pushing the defender 6-8 yds down field and either stop and just turn or hook left or right......an easy pitch and catch. If the other teams brings in an extra CB to cover the H-back, which would probably happen if the H-back was catching and running with a number of passes.......then it's time to run, with one less linebacker in the game and the field spread out. I would have 2 wideouts, a slot receiver, a H-back and a tight end playing almost every down. Either the H-back or tight end, (maybe both) would be covered by a linebacker and the QB knows before the play even starts where he is going with the ball most of the time. Texas Tech has used their Tight end very effectively in recent years, maybe BB could watch some of their film or he can give me a call, I would be glad to help out!!!!!!

RE: Two positions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good read.

I actually was thinking the same thing not long ago. And I think we have a player or two who could be our Charles Clay/Mills. Of course we've got the union kid who started some last year - Chris Hall (6-0 230), but I don't think he's anywhere near Clay in ability. So in that regard, he'd have to be a spot player or backup. But IMO we actually do have someone that could eventually be a Charles Clay/Mills type player if he can be developed. That is Kolton Shindelar (6-6 255) who runs like a deer and is big and strong like Clay was. There's also a kid noone ever talks about that I've seen who is a knockout blocker Colby Scott (6-2 245). But the problem is, can we coach them up enough to be that guy? I know he'd be coached by our kicking coach who IMO should have been relieved, so imo that is problematical.

But we are going to have to begin devloping players because we're running out of TG's recruits and will have to depend on BB's.
