But we are a senior-laden team, and we know how to win the close ones. We are just now starting to gel. Heck, we barely beat South Alabama at home earlier in the year (and they are awful this year-- shoulda kept Ronnie Arrow, but I digress). We lost to an even worse Maine squad in a Holiday tourney.

I assume Donnie Tyndall and Kermit Davis have very similar teams-- tough-nosed defense, who on offense are best in transition.

We are not very good, offensively, in the half court.

Gonna be nice to see DT again. I always liked speaking with him. Glad to see him have success. He's a helluva recruiter, too.

I think Kermit and Donnie spent about 8 years on staffs together, and both were at Idaho and Miss. State at separate times. Hell, I remember when he was jacking them up as a player at Morehead State (Ohio Valley).

I wonder how Donnie's girls are doing. I knew them when they were little.

His girls appear to be doing fine. They were on the end of the bench for the Marshall and Charlotte games. His older daughter aspires to be the first female head coach of a D1 men's team.

You don't have to buy into it. Just know UAB isn't 24 pts better than USM. USM ran into a buzzsaw last night. USM is too well coached not to bounce back and play better Sat Night. Matter of fact, I am pretty sure USM will win tomorrow night.

What does that even mean? I'm pretty sure I just checked the scoreboard, and indeed UAB was 24pts better than USM.

Yes. UAB was 24 points better than Southern Miss last night. What I think he was saying was if the game was played ten times UAB wouldn't average winning by 24 points.

I'm not so sure UAB would even win half the games.

Correct on the your 1st paragraph. Not so sure about your last comment.

Good luck to her, but it would have to be an extremely unusual and desperate situation for a D1 school to even consider that.

How often is UAB going to shoot 47.8% (11-23) from three. How often is Southern Miss going to shoot 12.5% (2-16) from three. That's 27 more points from behind the arc. Southern Miss held its own in rebounding losing 33-32. Equal in turnovers 11-11.

UAB's rebound margin this season is largely a result of missed baskets. We didn't miss many baskets, so as a result, there aren't going to be as many opportunities to get rebounds as there sometimes are. Opposite was true in this game for USM. USM's number of rebounds was helped out by number of missed shots.

UAB's success in this game was as much about our defensive intensity as it was about our success in shooting. UAB's problem all year long is that they have played up or down to their competition, and that's something our players have said and noticed as well. Against USM, we didn't play up or down to our competition. We simply played more to our potential.

Just like UAB isn't going to beat USM by 24 every game, UAB doesn't have to shoot 47.8 from three every game to beat USM. You can't take one game to analysis how the next nine games would play out. Plenty of ways to skin a cat.

I didn't say it was even possible. Just said that she aspires for that job.

Bad logic there. Defensive rebounds are more common than offensive ones. Missed shots by USM should bolster UAB's rebound total. Whereas few missed shots by UAB should reduce USM's rebound total.

Agreed. Just stated that to imply that we shouldn't assume that UAB would win all of the games.
