Yeah, it won't really be all that close if we're honest. That offense will eviscerate our defense. Losing out two mainstays up the middle (Stepp and Blair) is going to make it mighty hard for us to stop pretty much anything on the ground against that team.

Unfortunately we had our once in a lifetime chance to beat O$U and we dropped the ball...twice in the endzone.

Once in a lifetime? Not at all. We would have smacked them in 2009 and id argue wed have beaten them a few years since then. It at least would have been a game, especially if it was at the Nip, like they originally agreed to do.

If you think we would have "smacked" them in 2009, you apparently either didn't watch us enough, or didn't watch them at all. That would've been a VERY close game, especially with how terrible our defense was that year.

Um, UCF averaged 43K last year. We missed a sellout average because the noon UConn game didn't draw well. Beyond that, it was 41K for Akron, 47K for USC (sellout) , 44K for Houston, 43K for Rutgers, 46K for USF (sellout, no thanks to USF fan).

(a) We don't play UCF this year, so...

(b) Yippee for you.

Wait...you mean to tell me this guy made a dumb*** remark...never would've guessed.

More importantly...you want a measure of the Busch League-ishness of this conference...how is a kid who has been out of college for less than 4 years our conference's Director of Football Video Operations?!

RE: Conference opponents announced (football)
There is a good chance that UC and UCF are just above average next season so it might not matter that the two will not play each other. It is a lot harder to fill out a schedule than people realize, I am sure the conference office was more concerned with creating a formula that worked for the entire league than making UC and UCF happy. I would have like to seen the game but I just look at this as another chance to get a win in a transition year.

Remember Big East basketball when UC played Louisville only one time a season. As conferences grow you can't get every matchup that you like but I would hope conferences would be smart enough to figure out which games should be protected. Heck even the Big Ten had their only Ohio State-Michigan basketball game last night because Ohio State needed to double up on Nebraska and Penn State.

Once again I have to ask, are you an employee of the AAC?

Good grief these hair on fire threads get old. I'm also disappointed that we're not playing them next year, and the response from the tool in the league office is unprofessional IMO, but it's not exactly a sign of the apocalypse.
If we get our first crack at them in the new Nip in 2015, I can live with it.

How sad is it that we are upset that UCF is not on the schedule. I know they won a big game last year, but even if they were on the schedule I don't think I feel too different about that lineup.

Yeah....it's a little underwhelming. Doesn't exactly get the nostrils flaring. It is what it is for 2014. But you know what? I'm planning on making the trek up from North Carolina with my wife and kids to PBS for a game. We try to go to a Reds game every year so this may take that slot. I want to do a better job supporting the Cats and they're gonna need it from fans and alumni during this transition year.

RE: Conference opponents announced (football)
My initial thoughts on this schedule:

Home: ECU, USF, Memphis, Houston
Away: Tulane, UConn, SMU, Temple

1. PBS attandance won't be good - but it wasn't going to be anyway
2. We'll probably play UCF in the AAC Championship game - that's why we don't play them in the regular season. It makes for a better final game during championship week.
3. We have a very good opportunity to go undefeated in conference play
4. We have a better shot at a Top 25 ranking and Access Bowl invite with this schedule

Just trying to find a silver lining in this schedule cloud.

Only 11 teams in the AAC next year, so no conference championship game.

RE: Conference opponents announced (football)
A whole lot of complaining about a schedule that in total isn't that bad. Toledo and Miami Ohio are solid non-conference home games against regional teams that take place early enough in the year to be a solid draw for Bearcat fans and the visiting team. I am happy that UC doesn't have an FCS team on the schedule this season. Non-conference road schedule provides two national TV level games against name brands. Home conference schedule includes the two of the top four teams in the league in ECU and Houston and two teams in Memphis and USF that the Bearcats have some history with over the years. Road schedule has four winnable games, while the travel is far they cities themselves could make interesting road trips.

The biggest issue regarding attendance is going to be game dates and times not who UC plays.

RE: Conference opponents announced (football)
Heard Mo Egger driving home yesterday; he had contacted the AAC office to get an explanation for why UC wasn't playing UCF. The response was that the schedule was done in July 2013 but aside from a lot of other doubletalk from the conference media guy there really was no plausible explanation why this game won't happen.

I can't imagine any scenario where a new conference struggling to create some national identity and fan interest wouldn't have a game between what are arguably the two best teams in the conference.

Maybe they were afraid UC wouldn't be hanging around the AAC for that game. We could only hope.
