Crichton was a great author. His 2004 book State of Fear is about Eco/Terrorists and is very well written. I think the first movie I ever watched was The Andromeda Strain, based on his book.

He clearly states that SETI is based on the faith that there is
intelligent Alien life out there although no evidence exists on Earth.

We've only seen maybe .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of what's out there. How in the heck are we to say there isn't any life besides what we see in our little speck of dust in the cosmos?

SETI been at it for 40 years while religion has had eons. I'm quite willing to give SETI a bit more time to search, even if fruitless, for extraterrestrial life before saying the search for life in the universe is only faith.

I differentiate between the scientific hypothesis that the cosmos may harbor life, and religious faith in an omnipresent God. Maybe you don't differentiate but that is not something that I really want to debate, because I don't need to change your mind.
