Not as much, for three reasons:

First, NFL was not nearly as "big deal" as it is now. Neither was the NBA, which didn't even become The Association until 1949.

Second, there had been black players on teams in early years ('20s).

In fact, Fritz Pollard was the first black head coach of a Pro team in 1921.

Third, the sporting world was fixated on Jackie Robinson breaking the MLB "color barrier" in 1947.
