Charlotte Home Game Lowest Attendance Since Halton Area Built
While Charlotte has the third highest average attendance in CUSA there are signs of trouble. In their last home game they had the lowest attendance they have had since Halton Arena (the house that Lew built) was built. Some think the long term problem is that after four years under Major and one minor post season tournament invite with no wins and his recent contract extension (While still paying former coach Lutz) the head coach is the issue, but it goes deeper than that.

The long term problem is AD Judy Rose. She fought against starting football for years until the fans did an end around and forced the school to over ride her rejection of the sport. At the last minute when her efforts were a lost cause she jump in front of the parade and acted like she was directing the band. She focused on Olympic sports by directing funds away from the goose that laid the golden egg (men's basketball).

So how is her job security now?

RE: Charlotte Home Game Lowest Attendance Since Halton Area Built
I'm pretty sure our last home game was FIU and had 5400. That is not our lowest attended game since Halton was built.

FAU had a little more than 4600, is that what you're talking about? Because a lot of that has to do with coming off of a loss to Rice (no offense Owls), being a Thursday night game, and being against FAU (no offense other Owls).

The game before that was against North Texas and had ~5800.

Our attendance is definitely down- a lot of it has to do with scheduling (Thursday night, Xmas break, strange tip times, etc.) and a lot has to do with our performance on the court.

The worst game I can remember as far as attendance goes was the 2010 A10 Tournament game against UMass. Haven't had a game worse than that since then.

Judy could have certainly done more to try to start football earlier, but the previous Chancellor was her boss and he was firmly against starting football. Where is your proof that she directed money away from men's basketball in favor of other sports? I mean ****, she was paying almost a million dollars a year for the last 4 years to pay two coaches! She could have easily just stuck with Lutz until his contract had expired and saved money so she could 'direct even more funds away from the golden goose"

Also, I don't know why you refer to Halton as the house that Lew built. I'm assuming you mean the house that Mullins built.

You've posted several things in the past that make me think you don't really know much about Charlotte athletics.

Now I do agree that attendance is becoming shamefully low and I think it is time for Judy to retire, but you are clueless.

Hell, we've had more than 1 game this year where attendance was in the 4000's. This has also occurred other times in the past during holiday break games. Last time I checked 5,400 > 4,000.

Her job security is fine. She's raised a huge amount of money since she's been here. She has done a good job getting big dollar donors, but she definitely was not very good at fundraising with the common alums.

That has easily been her biggest failing as an AD.

She's been great for getting facilities built though and she is well respected in the industry.

She's getting fairly old though, so I imagine she'll retire soon. Wouldn't surprise me if she retires after we play our first season in CUSA.

Can we leave this on NNN? I come here to get away from that place, not create it again.

Thank you. I've avoided NN.N for the last two weeks due to all the constant beacthing, even after wins. Everyone has the right to speak their mind, but damn if it doesn't get tiring and boring of reading the same stuff every day.

• While the 49ers are 9-2 at Halton, average home attendance of 5,090 is on track to be the lowest since the arena opened in 1996. College basketball attendance has declined across the board in recent seasons – and with four home games remaining, there is not much time for Charlotte to bring that number up. Still, the 49ers are third in C-USA in attendance, trailing only UTEP (7,662) and Old Dominion (6,183).

Yep, read that on the O website this morning and figured it'd be a good day to avoid NN.N.

Looking forward to our game with you Sunday. The years we have been in the same conference with you led to your beating us regularly in basketball. You guys were always a thorn in our sides.

Those of us that are relatively sane have missed you. FYI, if you haven't been there, you have PM's. There's another Niner in town. We need to catch a game and get drinks.

Not sure how you got that the last home game was the lowest attendance since the arena was built... It wasn't. lol

Either way, yeah, attendance is quite tricky. We're having issues at MT too. Last year we finished the year with a game with 7,000 which was - honestly - a little surprising given the crappy showing that had been goin' on...

My apologies I admit I was wrong, there were indeed only 4030 fans at one home game this year and 4042 fans at another home game this year. Our over 9,000 seat arena has been filled to capacity during every home game this year, our team is on a roll and we will probably reach the sweet sixteen, our AD beat the doors of our chancellor down until he was forced to state football, our AD has already raised the money and our lights are up in our football stadium, she is the greatest judge of coaching talent since Butters hired Coach K.

Now there! Are you happy Judy?
