UTA next move if
If UALR joins Denver and Tulsa in the Summit, what would UTA do?
back to the SLC, join Summit also, remain SBC

If UALR move to the Summit, pressure should grow for Mo st to replace them.

The Summit ship sailed. They approached UALR, UNO and USA several years back when having UMKC, Centenary, and ORU made it more appealing (UALR and Centenary had a hot rivalry back in the TAAC).

Now they have the three Dakota schools and Nebraska-Omaha (hut hut) and would be less appealing.

It will be nice when the Sun Belt gets a 12th team and some of this constant "If . . . . move to this conference, what will the SBC do?" posts decrease.

I figured it was ORU, sort of like the Germans and Pearl Harbor.

I suspect he meant Oral Roberts (in Tulsa).

Don't see UALR moving to the Summit. The Summit has been pretty unstable recently. UALR has a long history with a lot of the Sun Belt teams. Just looking at the map, it looks like travel is a lot better in the Sun Belt to a lot less bad weather locations.

Yeah, I've heard that the WAC folks are not happy. Which is not shocking at all. Still, there is no way UALR would leave.

UMKC would be nutts not to go back. UMKC goes back, UALR travel in the Summit would be to Omaha, Denver, Tulsa, KC. Much better than towns of the SBC. Lets not dismiss the possibility because you don't like it.

It has nothing to do with liking it. It has to do with Arkansas politics Not to mention TV and every other issue.

Please keep in mind the SBC all but encouraged Denver to leave, and travel was one of those reasons.

UALR will not move. Period.

That said, I'll entertain your pie in the sky thread. UALR will not fnd closer schools in any conference that Arkansas State, UTA and Louisiana-Monroe. After that, Texas State and Louisiana-Lafayette aren't that far. After that, distance is irrelevant since a plane flight would be required for either.

I remember some great games against UALR when they were in the TACC with GS. I went to one when I was in High School and I remember a packed out Hanner and the fans throwing so much toilet paper on the floor after we got our first goal that the cheerleaders had to sweep it off with big floor brooms.

Good Times!

You guys throw Toilet Paper on the floor after every basket?

Does the town not need to use toilet paper anymore or something?

Not sure if they still do it but used to our fans would throw toilet paper on the floor after the first home basket of each game. Always got a foul but we did it anyway. I don't live close anymore and haven't attended a basketball game since the 90's but that used the be the tradition.
