Game Changer:

CBS will televise eight Thursday night games in 2014 and will feature play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and color analyst Phil Simms on every game, according to a Wednesday announcement by CBS and the NFL.

In addition to broadcasting eight early season games, CBS will produce a total of 14 Thursday night games and two Saturday evening games. The remaining games will air on NFL Network.

The eight games on CBS will also be simulcast on the NFL Network.

NFL Network hosts will be used in the pregame, halftime and postgame shows along with the CBS Sports announcers.

“We are very pleased to build on our outstanding partnership with the NFL by expanding our coverage to Thursday nights,” CBS Corporation President and CEO Les Moonves said in a statement. “CBS is a premium content company and the NFL represents the best premium content there is. I look forward to all this new deal will do for us not only on Thursday nights, but across our entire schedule.”

Thursday night college football is toast.

That is very odd, I thought the NFL Network did a good job.

They are going to split it with the NFL Network...CBS has the first 8 weeks and the NFL has the rest...but CBS is going to produce all the Broadcast and it is Nance and Sims calling all the games on both Networks...trust me...CBS is going to get good games...

they eventually want to have two thursday night games per week.

You can't really mess with Friday's because that is High School Football night. and the recruits we ALL want will be actually playing. I'm guessing Tuesday and Wednesday Night football!!!!

Yes, you can't sugarcoat this. Also, some more actors are out of work with 2+ hours of regular programming reduced.

I have not read the article, but I am assuming that CBS will be poaching some/half pure NFC games from Fox? CBS has the pure AFC games and along with the road AFC team in inter-conference games.

It would be hard to believe that it would be an AFC game every week.
